By Jacob Gill

Springside Chestnut Hill 4, Penn Charter 1

Aidan FryeSophomore right-handed pitcher Aidan Frye (right) shutout the Quakers over the first six innings and the Blue Devils escaped a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh inning to stake their claim as a legitimate contender for the Inter-Ac crown. With the win, SCHA matches pre-season favorite Malvern Prep as the only other team to start 2-0 in league play.

Matt GormanFrye and Penn Charter junior right-handed pitcher Matt Gorman (left) matched zeros for the first two innings, each working out of a jam in the first and cruising through the second. The Blue Devils would break through in the top of the third when their first six hitters reached base on two walks, two hit-by-pitches, and two singles for a 3-0 lead. PC senior right-handed pitcher Harrison Timberlake came on and settled things down, trading shutout innings with Frye through the sixth. SCHA tacked on another run in the top of the seventh when junior outfielder Ian Diaz laced a single to left field, but that's when the proceedings got really interesting.

Bryce CunninghamFrye (6.2 IP, 5 H, 4 BB, 2 HBP, 3 K) retired the first two batters in the bottom of the seventh before two infield singles and two walks brought the winning run to the plate and sophomore third baseman Bryce Cunningham in to pitch. Cunningham (right) ran the count full before inducing a flyout to right field to record the save.
