Malvern Prep 6, Episcopal Academy 3
Malvern Prep broke open a tie game with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, then survived a seventh inning rally when it recorded the final out with the tying run on first base. The win gave the Friars at least a share of the Inter-Ac championship with one game left to play in the regular season.
Episcopal got on the board first thanks to a two-out, RBI single from 2016 2B A.J. Lotsis in the top of the third. Malvern answered right back on a two-out, RBI double from 2015 1B Tim Quinn (right) in the bottom half. Malvern then posted its four-spot the next frame without the benefit of a hit. A hit-by-pitch, three walks, a wild pitch, and two sac flies accounted for the damage. With two runs in and the bases loaded in the seventh, 2014 RHP Tony Gruenling (Babson) came on to strike out the only hitter he'd face to end the ballgame.
Quinn (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and Matt Maul (2-3, RBI) led Malvern Prep offensively. 2017 SS Kyle Virbitsky went 2-3 to pace Episcopal.
