Game Recap: Dallastown at Red Lion

Riley HambergerRed Lion senior right-handed pitcher Briar Lauer a Harford CC commit, was awfully good. Unfortunately for the Lions Dallastown's Riley Hamberger (top right) was even better. Hamberger spun a complete game shutout, striking out 11 with no walks. The senior right-hander allowed just two batters to reach scoring position and limited Red Lion to just three hits.

Lauer (middle right) was nearly as effective allowing just two hits while striking out six himself. He was masterful, along with the help of some solid defense, in squelching several Dallastown scoring efforts. Lauer struggled with Briar Lauercommand at times (seven walks), but was able to come up with key pitches when he needed to stranding runners in scoring position on four separate occasions.

The top of the 3rd inning ended up deciding the end outcome. Lauer walked back-to-back hitters with one out. After getting the second out of the inning via a strikeout Hamberger laced a ground ball down the 3rd base line that ate up the defender and got into the left field corner for a double and two RBI.

That would be all the support that Hamberger needed as he proceeded to face just three hitters over the minimum over the final five innings.

Nick Parker2018 shortstop Nick Parker (bottom right) accounted for the only other hit for Dallastown. The sophomore, who will be participating as a member of Team Pennsylvania in August at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis, finished the night 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
