By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania/West Virginia Director of Scouting

The summer schedule of PBR events in Pennsylvania continued this week with the 2016 Eastern PA Top College Prospect Showcase on June 29. Nearly 50 prospects from four states gathered to showcase their abilities at Maple Zone Sports in Aston, PA. Today we begin our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at the top prospect in attendance

FINAL MEASURABLES for all prospects in attendance

Top Prospect

Ari Silverstein, RHP, Central Bucks East HS, PA, Class of 2017

Bullpen sessions followed a morning filled with positional player workouts and it wasn't until the next-to-last pitcher toed the rubber that the event's top prospect made an appearance.

Silverstein, a long-limbed, 6-foot-4, 185-pounder with a projectable frame sat 84-86 out of a 3/4 arm slot. He throws his 11/5 breaking curveball from a low elbow slot causing it to flatten out at times, but he sells his 68 mph changeup with solid arm speed and the pitch displayed arm-side run.

The rising senior went 2-1 this spring with a 2.74 ERA allowing 14 hits over 15.1 innings. Command is an issue that will have to be addressed as he walked 16 batters on the season.
