District 5 Pitcher of the Year: RHP/IF Brantley Rice

Brantley RicePBR's District V Pitcher of the Year is North Star's Brantley Rice.  The right-hander headed to Pitt-Johnstown was dominant this spring, going 9-0 with a 1.37 ERA, 37 H, 22 BB and 92 K in 56.1 IP.  He racked up double digit strikeouts four times and never allowed more than six hits in a game.  Rice chipped in with the bat as well, posting a .446 AVG, 40 R, 10 XBH and 22 RBI.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder teamed with PBR's District V Player of the Year Tony Strasiser to lead North Star to a 21-0 record through the regular season and District V tournament, with the only loss coming in the first round of the PIAA tournament.  The district title (and accompanying PIAA berth) was the school's second straight, as it reached the class AA semifinals in 2012 before reclassifying to class A this spring.
