Opening Day of the 2013 season for PIAA schools was not an optimal weather day. Many games were postponed and those that were played were affected by temperatures that hovered in the 30's. Following is a recap of game action from a chilly day one of the PIAA season.

#13 Pittsburgh Central Catholic  8  #23 Episcopal Academy  4 (9 innings)

  • Two late game home runs tuned a 4-2 Episcopal win into an extra inning victory for Central Catholic. Complete recap of this game along with scouting notes will be published as a separate story tomorrow.

GodfreyPenn Manor  3  Eastern York  1

  • Terry Godfrey pitched 5.2 innings of solid baseball giving up just three hits and two earned runs while striking out six for Eastern York. St. Joseph's recruit Darren Weidman was just a little bit better for Eastern York. Weidman went all seven innings giving up one unearned run on three hits while striking out nine. Collin Groff was the hitting star for Penn Manor with a double and an RBI.

Thomas Jefferson  11  Seton LaSalle 1

  • RHP David Stover worked the first three innings to pick up the win for TJ. The 6-foot-6 junior gave up two hits, walked three and struck out three. Colton Booher went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to lead the TJ offense.

Wilson West Lawn 4  #8 Liberty 1

  • West Lawn opened up the season with a 4-1 victory thanks in part to eight walks issued by Liberty pitchers. Jake tone had two hits and Lehigh recruit Patrick Donnelly registered the only Liberty RBI.
