2016 PAISAA Fab Four (early May update)

The independent schools again kick off the second in-season update of our preseason team projections. Our PAISAA Fab Four represents the schools we believe would reach the final day of competition (in bracket order), if the PAISAA tournament, which plays its semifinals and championship on the same day, were to be conducted starting today.
Seed | School | Record | Notes |
1 | Malvern Prep | 18-3 | 4-2 since last update. The Friars have actually lost two of their last three, but that follows a 15-game winning streak. The two-time defending champs hold a comfortable lead in the Inter-Ac, as they are two losses better than everyone else in league play. |
4 | Springside Chestnut Hill | 10-6 | 1-4 since last update. Blue Devils drop one spot, as the Inter-Ac after Malvern Prep is a complete jumble. Three recent league losses by a combined four runs and no one else has truly seized this spot. |
3 | The Haverford School | 18-6 | 5-3 since last update. Flipping coins a bit for the 3- and 4-seeds, as all Inter-Ac teams besides Malvern Prep have three or four league losses. The Fords have won five of six and don't have to play the Friars again. |
2 | Perkiomen School |
14-2 | 6-1 since last update, with the only loss coming in a double-header split against Penn Charter. The Panthers hold a 5-1 record vs Inter-Ac teams. |
Others to Watch
William Penn Charter (12-7) - Record of 3-3 since last update. Talented Quakers still looking to find consistency; haven't strung more than two wins together in over a month.
Episcopal Academy (10-11) - Record of 3-4 since last update. Appeared to be rolling following a three-game win streak that including handing Malvern Prep its only league loss. Have since dropped four in a row and scored more than one run only once during that stretch.
Germantown Academy (12-5-1) - Record of 5-1 since last update. Two league wins in a row after dropping first three. Patriots have chance to prove themselves over back half of Inter-Ac play.
Mercersburg Academy (17-4) - Record of 5-2 since last update. Virtually all games vs out-of-state competition, so the Blue Storm will be in prove-it mode come tournament time. Others will need to step up with ace pitcher out the rest of the season.
