2014 Unsigned Senior Showcase: Catcher Analysis

The 2nd Annual Unsigned Senior Showcase took place on October 18. A number of solid performances were turned in with catcher Logan Snyder (Lakeview) taking home top prospect honors. Over the course of the next week we will take a look at each of the prospects in attendance by position. Today we continue our review by analyzing those prospects that participated as catchers.

2014 unsigned senior showcase: Catchers
Logan Snyder, C, Lakeview HS, PA (2015)
Snyder was the most impressive prospect in attendance at any position. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound backstop flashed his athleticism from the start running a 6.93 60-yard dash and displaying middle of the order offensive abilities with an 89 mph bat exit velocity from the right side of the plate. Snyder starts from a slightly open stance with a high hands load and utilizes a lift and replace stride. He demonstrated the ability to drive the baseball to both gaps and consistently barreled the baseball during batting practice.
Snyder was equally impressive defensively showcasing a 78 mph arm from the crouch with pop times ranging from 1.98-2.03. He is very athletic and has a frame that should continue to develop in the coming years.
Jack Shevlin, C/3B, Marple Newtown HS, PA (2015)
Shevlin showcased pop times of 2.05-2.13 on throws of 76 mph from the crouch. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitter displayed a direct swing path from a square stance with a lift and replace stride. Shevlin barreled the baseball routinely to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Shevlin completed his day by registering a 7.80 60-yard dash.
