The Hotlist: 2017 Draft Prospects To Watch

By Nathan Rode

The 2016 MLB Draft is over so it’s time to begin figuring out 2017. For this week’s Hotlist, Prep Baseball Report’s state directors submitted at least one draft prospect to watch for next year. They are listed alphabetically below.

Jordon Adell, OF/RHP, Ballard HS, KY
Adell is one of the top prospects in the country and a legitimate two-way player. He is a physical specimen with strong, lean frame at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. On the mound, he can sit 89-93 mph, touching the mid 90s, and he mixes in a sharp breaking ball at 75-79. He has also shown a changeup in the low 80s. As a position player, Adell can run a 6.5-second 60 and has bat speed from the right side of the plate. A Louisville recruit, he should be the subject of a fun debate between now and next June, as to whether he’s a better position player or pitcher.
