T12 Recap: 5 Infielders You Need to Know

Tournament 12 presented recruiters with a look at top level uncommitted seniors as well as a handful of up and coming underclassmen. Below, we highlighted infielders that will be on colleges radar over the next few months and in the years moving forward.

Unsigned Seniors 

Cooper Lamb, 3B, Ontario Blue Jays, 2015

At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, large frame with strong, athletic build. Near physical projection. Battled all last week through leg injury sustained on scout day. Showed passion and bulldog attitude toward game. Ball carries off the bat, good leverage in swing. With strength, power is easy to see. More than enough arm for third. Ball showed good carry across field and was on target. Hands worked, made routine plays.

Royce Ando, MINF, Ontario Blue Jays, 2015

Middle infielder who can also play third. At 5-foot-11, 185-pounds, Ando is a tireless worker with a strong, athletic build. At the plate Ando uses a line drive stroke that at times has length. Occasional power, more gap to gap at present. Lead-off type pest who makes things happen on the bases, stays active and alert. 6.7 sixty time at Rogers Centre. In the field, Ando has online carry with his arm strength. Hands and feet work, at times can rush himself. Quick transfer, able to get rid of it. Can cover ground side to side, moves well. Strong desire and no shortage of hustle. Currently uncommitted for 2015.

THE FUTURE

Adam Hall, SS, Great Lake Canadians, 2017

One of the youngest players on the field last week, Hall is not one to show his age when it comes to play on the field. At 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, they live body middle infielder has an athletic build, which will see gains in strength over next few years. Good instincts in the field, hands and arm work, confident with glove actions. Feet work well, agile in the lower half. At the plate hits with a small stride, small load. Hands are quick to ball, can stay inside. Good bat speed through the zone, shows barrel control. Surprising power for stature, increase more with maturity. Plus runner with a 6.5 sixty, smart base-running instincts. High compete level, plays game right way. Should be mainstay for Team Canada in the infield for next three years. Something special, top D1 follow.

Brad Aldred, 3B/OF, Toronto Mets, 2016

Mainly a right-fielder the past two years, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect took reps at third base during T12 action. Showed he can handle position, hands and feet work. Athletic enough to make change from the outfield. 7.15 sixty time. Plus arm across the infield, must work on angles and arm action to make the change. Will come with reps. Bat is the prized possession. Left handed stick with easy power, hits them high and far. Generates good bat speed, does not get cheated. Working on approach, a perfectionist. Wants to succeed. A lot of tools, chance to be really really good.

Ryan Rijo, 1B, Ontario Blue Jays, 2016

6-foot-2, 245-pounds, stocky build with ability to add more strength. Rijo is a power hitting first-baseman. Big swing with lift and leverage, can get pull happy at times. Aggressive fastball hitter, run producer type. Went first deck during T12 tournament at Rogers Centre. Plays an adequate first base. Moves well for a big man. Will be a top follow for 2016 class.
