June 3, 2015
By Chris Kemlo and Nathan Rode
The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
It’s a historic year for Canada with three players in the National Top 50 and a fourth that has a chance to go in the top five rounds. Of those four prospects, three are from Ontario—RHP Mike Soroka (Bishop Carroll HS, AB) is from Alberta. 1B Josh Naylor (St. Joan of Arc HS, ON) stands atop Ontario’s class, but OFs Demi Orimoloye (St. Matthew HS, ON) and Miles Gordon (St. Ignatius of Loyola HS, ON) aren’t far behind.
Top Prospects
1. Josh Naylor, 1B, St. Joan of Arc HS, ON
Naylor has a big frame at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds and possesses serious power from the left side of the plate. He generates excellent bat speed through the zone and doesn’t get cheated, hitting balls high and far.
