We would like to thank all who participated in PBR's The Border Preview Showcase. This was a great opportunity for 2015, '16, '17, and '18 prospects to be put on college radars. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase. Below we have the complete statistical results from the event as well as the top performers across various different categories.
In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

The Border Preview: Class of 2018 Evaluations
TOP PITCHER: Brock Nartker, RHP/SS, Napoleon, 2018
TOP POSITION PLAYER: Justin Wright, 3B/RHP, Hempfield Area, 2018
Blake Bean, OF/2B, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 145-pound athletic build. From the outfield he plays through the ball and uses a good crow hop. From over the top he he showed 75 mph arm strength. Left-handed hitter with a spread out stance that keeps him balanced. Uphill swing with a still finish. Registered top exit velocity of 79 mph and ran a 7.46-60.
Brock Nartker, RHP/SS, Napoleon, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 140-pound projectable frame. From the infield he shows good range for his age and projects as a SS/3B type. Throws from a max effort high-¾ slot with 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that uses a leg kick to load. Bat path is flat, but has tendency to get long and pull off. Registered top exit velocity of 77 mph and ran 7.91-60. On the mound righty has a slow tempo delivery which he is able to repeat. From near over the top his fastball sits 77-79 mph with some down angle. His breaking ball with 11/5 gradual break was 66 mph with average depth. Throw a hard changeup at 66-70 mph with some occasional sink.
Colin Kennedy, 3B/RHP, Chagrin Falls, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 160-pound solid build. From third base he fields the ball into his body with adequate range for his age. Winds up on his throw from a loose, ¾ slot with 72 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that is spread out to keep balanced. Does not stride and shows quick hands and good rotation on his lower half. Registered top exit velocity of 68 mph off a tee and ran 7.93-60. On the mound he showcased a short, low-¾ arm slot with minimal effort in his arm and delivery. Fastball ranged between 73-75 mph with heavy run. He showed an above average curveball for his age at 66-68 mph with 10/4 tilt. His changeup had good arm speed at 67-70 mph.
Cyrus Thomley, OF/RHP, St. John’s Jesuit, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-7, 148-pound average build. From the outfield he plays back on his heels and opens up on his throw. From a ¾ slot he showed 76 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that showed a good set up and a simple swing with a flat path that stayed in the hitting zone. Registered 72 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.19-60. On the mound the righty has slow tempo delivery with good direction at foot strike. Throws from a long, high-¾ slot with fastball sitting 69-72 mph with some cut to it. His curveball had slow, gradual 11/5 break at 62-63 mph with good command of it. Showcased a changeup at 65-66 mph with good arm speed and some sink to it.
Gabe Bergman, RHP, Columbia, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 120-pound skinny, projectable frame. On the mound the right hander has slow tempo delivery that gradual speeds up. Lands closed and throws from an short, low-¾ slot with fastball sitting 61-64 mph. Showed a sweeping breaking ball with good feel and 10/4 gradual break at 58-60 mph.
Justin Charron, C/SS, Woodhaven, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 160-pound average build. From behind the plate he shows good footwork for his age and above average exchange. If he can stay in line on his throws and not open up it would lower his pop times from a 2.1-2.36 range. Showed 71 mph velocity home to second. From the infield he plays back on his heels and fields the ball into his body. From over top he shows 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts slightly closed. Starts his hands high and back with a uphill swing. Registered 83 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.56-60.
Justin Wright, 3B/RHP, Hempfield Area, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1,170-pound athletic build that shows advanced skills for his age. From the infield he shows good range, clean exchange and enough arm strength to play third base. Threw from a short-¾ slot with 81 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Uses a big leg kick to load with a short, compact swing with good bat speed for his age. Registered a top exit velocity of an impressive 90 mph and ran a 7.28-60.
Liam McDonald, 2B/SS, Whitmer, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 175-pound solid build for his age. From the infield he projects as a second base type. Limited range that fields the ball into his body. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 68 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. Hands start high and uses a toe tap to load. Flat bat path with 80 mph exit velocity off a tee and ran 7.76-60.
Matthew Boes, C/1B, Tiffin Columbian, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 190-pound big body build. From behind the dish he has a wide frame. If he cleans up his footwork with better direction his pop times will improve. From a high-¾ slot his pop times ranged between 2.33-2.47 and showed 64 mph arm strength. From first base he is adequate around the bag and opens up on his throw. Right-handed hitter with a good load and showed solid power for his age. Registered top exit velocity of 79 mph and ran 8.09-60.
Owen Gast, SS/OF, Toledo Christian, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 190-pound strong build. Showed versatility being able to play the infield and outfield. From the outfield he needs to utilize a run through. Throws from a high-¾ slot with 77 mph arm strength. In the infield he shows soft hands and a clean exchange. Tends to wind up on his throw with 73 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter with a good load and show quick hands for his age. Needs to get his foot down on time with 85 mph exit velocity and ran 7.61-60.
Richard Crooks, RHP/3B, Edison, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 165-pounds average build. From third base he sits back on his heels and fields the ball into his body. From a high-¾ slot he shows 62 mph arm strength across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that stands tall and feet squared. Shows an easy swing with good rotation on his lower half. Registered 72 mph exit velocity off a tee and ran 9.08-60. On the mound the righty has a slow tempo delivery that lands open at foot strike. Throws from a long, high-¾ slot with his fastball sitting 65-68 mph. Has a big 11/5 gradual break on his curveball at 57 mph and shows a changeup at 60 mph that he occasionally gets underneath with.
Robert Bischoff, RHP/OF, Bedford, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 130-pound lanky, projectable frame. From the outfield he plays through the ball well and opens up on his throw. From a short, high-¾ slot he shows 70 mph arm strength. Right-handed hitter that stands tall and uses a leg kick to load. Has a compact swing with 67 mph exit velocity and ran 7.58-60. On the mound the righty has good tempo, pauses at his balance point, and flies open at foot strike. From a high-¾ slot his fastball sits 68-69 mph. He shows command of his breaking ball at 62-63 mph with lat 10/4 break. Showcased a changeup near his fastball at 63-64 mph.
