The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
Ohio hasn’t seen a high school position player get popped in the first 10 rounds since the Indians to C Alex Lavisky in the eighth round in 2010. OF D.J. Wilson (Canton South HS, OH) has a chance to top that this year if he’s deemed signable. Beyond Wilson, it’s the usual for the state, with projectable arms getting most of the attention and they are all likely to end up on campus in the fall.
Top Prospects
1. Chandler Day, RHP, Watkins Memorial HS, OH
Day stands at a skinny 6-foot-3, 160-pounds. He throws through a 3/4 to high-3/4 slot with a quick arm and showed a fastball at 90-92 mph last summer with some arm-side run.
