Victor 3 - Fairport 1

Senior Mike Wagner threw a complete game for Victor allowing just 3 hits and two walks, while punching out 9.   Wagner battled his fastball command all game, but had his curveball working keeping the Red Raiders off balance.

Fairport took the early lead as senior Sam Weber led off the 2nd inning with a single and would later score on a wild pitch.  Victor centerfielder Aaron Schlarbaum (junior) drew a bases loaded walk in 4th to force in senior Kevin O’Brien to put the Blue Devils up 2-1, a lead they would not relinquish.

Fairport would threaten once more in the 5th, loading the bases with one out, but were not able to push across a run as Wagner set down the 2 and 3 hitters on a strikeout and a flyout to work out of the jam.

Junior RHP Matt Johnson was impressive, but ran into some tough luck with a couple of defensive miscues behind him.  He threw 5 inning allowing 5 hits, one walk, and had 5 strikeouts.

Junior 3B Ryan Simmons had two hits and an RBI for Victor.

Canandaigua 10 - Irondequoit 2

Canandaigua’s Tanner Cooper scattered 9 hits over 6 innings to beat Irondequoit on Tuesday.  The sophomore righty walked two and struck out 8.

Irondequoit got on the board early with a first inning run.  SS Antonio Morales led off the game with a double and would later score on a single by Dan Doran.  Though allowing 4 Eagles to reach base in the first, Cooper worked out of further trouble aided by a double play and a strikeout to end the frame.

The Braves exploded for 4 runs in the 4th with two hits and 3 walks, two of which came with the bases loaded.  They would go on to add 6 more runs over the final 3 innings for the convincing victory.

Coopers only tense moment came in the 5th.  After surrendering two hits and a walk to start the inning, he struck out the Eagles 4 and 5 hitters, and induced a ground ball to third base to work out of the bases loaded no-out jam.

Cooper finished 3 for 4 at the plate including a triple, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Jacod Riddle and Tim Ryan each reached base 4 times and scored two runs each.  Irondequoit’s Dan Bamann, Morales, and Sean Mannion each had two hits for the Eagles.  Bamann was very impressive behind the plate throwing out 3 Braves on the bases.

Patrick Coyne, who had two hits and a walk, pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to secure the win for the Braves.
