With the draft a couple of weeks away, this week’s Hotlist will take a look at some of the superlatives in the 2014 class. Below are several categories highlighting some of the top prospects in Prep Baseball Report’s coverage area.
Best Athlete: Athleticism is a common denominator among many of the top prospects as it takes a good athlete to succeed at a high level. However, no one comes close to the athletic ability that OF Monte Harrison (Lee’s Summit West HS, MO) possesses. A three-sport start in high school, Harrison is committed to Nebraska for baseball and football. He helped Lee’s Summit West to a state championship in football with 13 touchdowns and 1,007 receiving yards on 60 catches while running for 12 touchdowns and 198 yards on 32 carries. Harrison also led the Titans to a third-place finish in basketball and can put on a show during pregame warm-ups.
