Shenendehowa 6 - Burnt Hill 2

On a beautiful day in Clifton Park NY, The Burnt Hills Spartans came into town to take on The Shenendehowa Plainsmen.  Multiple scouts came out to see the Anderson - Maynard match up, but fans and spectators got to see a great ball game.

Shen got a run in the 1st and 3rd on a pair of RBI ground-outs off the bat of Connor Douglas.

In the top of the 4th Burnt Hills catcher Danny Maynard stepped to the plate.  After working the count to 3-2, Maynard would work a walk and shortly after steal 2nd.  Aaron Delano would also work a walk making it 1st and 2nd - no outs, and Garret Snyder stepping into the box.  Snyder laid down a great bunt pushing it down the 1st base line, that was originally misplayed, then over thrown.  Maynard came around to score on the over throw, making it 2-1.  Shortly after, Delano would score on yet another misplayed bunt, tying the score at 2 a piece.  After a long mound visit, Anderson settled down and was able to record 2 strikeouts, and a ground-out to retire the Spartans.

This would be the end of Anderson's day.  In a 91 pitches he struck out 10, allowing 2 hits, 3 walks, and two earned runs.

Shen would battle back in the bottom half of the inning largely due to leadoff hitter Andrew Pedone's rbi single up the middle, and Josh Hayner's rbi fly-out to right field.

Andrew Pedone had a big day for the Plainsmen, going 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.

Shen would add 2 more runs off the bat of Richard Drum in the bottom of the 6th. Drum crushed a long 2 run homer to left center making it 6-2. Righty Nik Malachowski would throw the final 3 innings for Shen earning the win, allowing only 1 hit, striking out 3.

PBR's Take
This was Ian Anderson's best performance thus far velocity wise, very impressive.  Burnt Hills starter, senior RHP Jon Sell threw well.  Sell isn't overpowering, but he changes speeds well, and is able to throw his curve balls for strikes.  His velocity fluctuated at times but there's room there.  In junior RHP Nik Malachowski innings, he was impressive.  He's a gamer, very tough.
