Francisco Stec, OF, Schenectady HS, NY (2016)
Stec stands 5-foot-9, 170-pounds with solid build. At the plate he starts with his weight back and hands high. He uses a small stride before the swing, and his bat path is level through the strike zone with an 80 mph exit velocity. In the OF he fields the ball out in front with a crow hop, throws from a low/mid 3/4 slot at 68 mph.
Analysis:
Stec showed a lot of upside at our Prospect I.D. Games this past July. During the game he displayed extreme athleticism while laying out to make a diving catch in center field along with hitting a double in one of his 3 at bats. His two best assets are his speed on the base paths running a 7.0 60 as well as his bat speed having an exit velocity of 80 mph. Stec has an extremely level swing and if he makes some slight adjustments I can see him becoming an extremely good hitter.
