Ben Brown, Ward Melville HS, Grad Year 2017,RHP

Brown stands a durable 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, lots of projection. On the mound he rocks into a side step, balanced delivery. Knee lift is above belt, hands near chin before separation. Shoulders tilt uphill, short-quick arm action, throws from a high-3/4 slot, Ben has a Long stride that he lands closed with. His finish is over his front side. At our Feb. showcase Brown’s fastball was sitting 79 mph.  At his stand out game against top hitting team Patchogue Medford Ben’s velocity was up to 83mph.  His curveball was sitting 68-70mph and his change up was at 71mph. Ben tossed a complete game 3 hitter striking out four. Ben is projected to be a top of the line starter in his years on Varsity.

Kyle Strovink, C, Rocky Point HS, NY, Grad Year 2016

Strovink stands 6-foot-0 190-pounds with an athletic, strong build. Behind the dish he receives the ball clean with a fast transfer and throws from a high ¾ slot, his pop time of 1.91 to the second base. At the plate he swings from the left side with a balanced approach, toe lift and brings his front knee back for timing with a small back load with his bat. His swing plane is level through the strike zone with his hands inside the ball, great extension out in front, and a high powerful finish. He ran a 4.4 home to first time. In this weeks games he batted 500 with a double and a home run and 3 singles. He recorded 3 RBIs also.  No one attempted to steal on number 12th ranked player in NYS.

Joseph Rosselli, OF, Ward Melville HS, NY, 2017

Rosselli stands in at 5-foot-9 170-pounds with athletic lean with strong lower half.  In the field he plays the ball to his glove side and attacks the ball aggressively.  Quick and clean exchange and gets through the ball well. At the plate he stands closed with his hands above his ears with a slight wrap of the body.  Little to no stride at all but well balanced.  Bat path is smooth and through the zone keeping his hands inside.  Shoulders and hips stay closed with goo extension on the ball. His home to first time was 4.46. Projected to be a fine college outfielder. Rosselli had a break out week as he went 4 for 8 an RBI and 3 hit by pitches.  Scoring multiple times for Power House Ward Melville.  Rosselli young but is a threat at the plate as he already has 3 game winning hits this year.

Nick Vitale, SS, Ward Melville HS, NY, 2016

Vitale stands 5-foot-9 closed and crouched stance with a slight load back to the catcher.  Quick hands and level bat through the zone.  Shows great balance at the plate and great extension through the ball.  Vitale going 2-4 against Patchogue Medford setting the tone in game 2 with a lead off home run followed by a double.  In the field Vitale fields the ball out in front with his glove face open.  Smooth transfer from glove to hand, with great rhythm through the ball.  Strong arm and accurate.

Anthony Siroka, SS, Sachem East HS, NY, 2017

Siroka stands in 6-foot-1 with a tall lean athletic build.  At the plate he stands open with a nice clean load.  Hands stay through the zone bat stays level as well as his head on the ball. In the field Vitale fields the ball out in front with his glove face open.  Smooth transfer from glove to hand, with great rhythm through the ball.  Strong arm and accurate.  In his game against Lindenhurst Siroka went 2-4 with a 2 RBI double off the fence and a single in the hole.  All his at bats were great as he made hard contact every time.
