New York Insider: Saratoga Claims Section 2, AA Crown; Hobbs Proves He's a Warrior

Saratoga Springs 1 - Shenendehowa 0
As I'm writing this recap of last-nights game between Shenendehowa and Saratoga Springs, I still cannot comprehend what we all actually saw last night. The group I sat with in the stands had around 200 years of baseball experience between them, and they kept on saying "I've never seen anything like it".
By now, anyone who has followed baseball even a little bit knows about Ian Anderson and his low 90's fastball from a highly projectable frame. Bottom line he's the best pitcher in the section if not the state. Danny Hobbs is the lesser-known pitcher from Saratoga – who burst onto the seen a month ago and hasn't looked back. We have thought very highly of Hobbs since we saw him last February, at our All-State Preseason Showcase, yet some others I guess needed a little more convincing. Bottom line is everyone that witnessed what we did left Joe Bruno Stadium saying – That Hobbs is the real-deal. This isn't the first time that Hobbs has shown this, however. Here is an article on Danny Hobbs by State Director Dan Cevette from earlier this month: Danny Hobbs (NY) Showing He Has the Stuff.
Sectional finals don't always playout the way the experts predict - where you get the top two teams in the section facing off for all the bragging rights. So often you get the number No. 1 ranked powerhouse team playing a Cinderella story team, and although we love to cheer-on the underdog, the story so often enough is "well at least they got there". Although Shen and Saratoga lost a few tough games throughout their season – these two ball clubs we're no doubt the top teams in section 2. The atmosphere at Joe Bruno Stadium last night was electric – close to a thousand in attendance.
