Connetquot 8 - Sachem East 1 |
For the majority of the matchup the two teams battled it out back and forth. Connetquot’s starting pitcher Christian Misseri came out strong tossing six innings - giving up five hits while punching out and impressive nine batters, allowing only one earned-run. Sachem East’s Lindermier started the game with some early trouble but continued to battle the rest of the game. Going 4 1/3 innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs, four strikeouts.
In the second inning Connetquot lead off the inning when Arron Gasliano belted a double off the top of the wall in left field. Arron advanced to third-base when catcher Stalim Bahmom stroked a base hit in the hole - followed by a fielders-choice 6-4-3 double-play scoring Gasliano. In the top of the third Sachem answered right back with Anthony Siroka leading off the inning with a walk, and Christian Steigerwald dropping a successful bunt moving Siroka to second. The big hit of the inning came when right-fielder Joseph Russo, who blasted a double in the right center gap scoring Siroka.
The game stayed tied until the third inning when Connetquot went back on top when No. 73 in the class of 2016 (NY) rankings Marc Wagenstein hit a base hit followed by a double by power hitter Brandon Morse. With runners on second and third Travis Bryinsma hit an RBI single scoring Wagenstien. Score now 2-1 Connetquot. That would change when a stolen base attempt took place and an error by Sachem East catcher Nico Rivera causing Brandon Morse to score. Sachem was held to one run the whole game. Connetquot then added two runs in the fifth and four runs in the 6th to take the 8-1 lead. Connetquot went on to cruise to the 8-1 victory.
