Top Unsigned Prospect Showcase: Pitchers Analysis

On Sunday, October 30, Prep Baseball Report Kansas/Missouri held the Top Unsigned Prospect Showcase at Hoover Field in Wichita, Kansas.  Nearly 50 players from the 2018 and 2017 classes participated. 

Player profiles have been updated with profile pictures, velos, running times and video.  College recruiters can now update their ScoutPlus dashboard accordingly.  And players can take advantage of the ProspectPlus dashboard.

Pitchers

Austin Chen, RHP, Blue Valley West (KS), 2018
Chen is a 5-foot-10 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Chen has a high three-quarters release, hands raise with leg lift, throws slightly across body, showed command of three pitches, fastball at 78-81 mph, one of the top fastball velos of the evnt, flashed slight arm side run, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, some with late action, all were around zone, change up at 71-72 mph, slight arm side run, near fastball arm speed.

Jacob Christopherson, RHP, Bishop Carroll (KS), 2018
Christopherson is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Christopherson has a smooth and repeatable delivery, loose over the top release, throws down hill, across body, quick arm speed, fastball at 84-86 mph, throws for strikes, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, some with depth, change up flashed sink at 71-74 mph.

Caleb Dameron, RHP, Campus (KS), 2018
Dameron is a 6-foot-3 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Dameron has a strong frame with a high three-quarters release, in line stride, body stays under control during delivery, fastball at 76-78 mph mph, 11-to-5 shaped breaking ball, gradual action, change up at 69-76 mph, some flashing arm side fade. 

 Dalton Doyle, RHP, Olathe North (KS), 2017
Doyle is a 5-foot-11 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class. Doyle threw a high number of strikes with three pitches, quick tempo to delivery, over the top release, aggressive down the mound, in line stride, fastball topped at 89 mph, sitting 86-87 mph, one of the top fastball velos of the event, curveball has a 12-to-6 shape, late downward action, change up at 76-79 mph, fastball arm speed, repeats release with all pitches. 

Matt Duley, RHP, Riverton (KS), 2018
Duley is a 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Duley comes from an over the top arm slot, high percentage of strikes, controlled leg lift to accelerated in line stride, loose arm action, arm works, fastball showed slight fade at 81-82 mph, one of the top fastball velos of the event, breaking ball had late action at 67-68 mph, 11-to-5 action, change up has slight sink at 68-70 mph with fastball arm speed.

Jack Ebright, RHP, Bishop Carroll, 2019
Ebright is a 6-foot-1 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  Ebright has a lean frame with a loose over the top arm slot, arm works, controlled and repeatable delivery, fastball at 78-81 mph, one of the top fastball velos for the event, some showing late and hard cutting action, curveball at 68-71 mph, gradual 11-to-5 action, throws change up with fastball arm speed, late arm side release, 74-75 mph, showed command of three pitches. 

Dalton Engle, RHP, Riley County (KS), 2018
Engle is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Engle has a slender frame, over the top release, in line stride, controlled leg lift with slight pause at the top of lift, fastball at 79-80 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, late action, has some deception, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 68-72 mph, throws strikes. 

Josh Flack, RHP, Shawnee Mission Northwest (KS), 2018
Flack is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Flack has an easy and loose arm action, over the top release, throws with regular effort and quick arm speed, repeats delivery and release point, fastball at 82-86 mph, one of the top fastball velos of the event, flashing run, curveball has 11-to-5 action, some with depth and late action, 65-66 mph, change up has slight arm side run, 74-77 mph, fastball arm speed, threw a high number of strikes with three pitches. 

Blake Freeman, LHP, Bishop Carroll (KS), 2018
Freeman is a 5-foot-9 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Freeman has an over the top release, smooth delivery, throws with some effort, fastball has some sink and late run, 75-78-mph, one of the top left-handed fastball velos of the event, curveball at 63-67 mph, some with depth, 1-to-7 action, change up flashed fade at 63-69 mph. 

Connor Hughes, RHP, Olathe North (KS), 2018
Hughes is a 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas 2018 class. Hughes has a controlled delivery, throws with regular effort, in line stride, body stays under control, fastball at 73-77 mph, late running action, 11-to-5 breaking ball, gradual action, 63-68 mph, controllable change up 67-73 mph, arm side release, near fastball arm speed.

Mason Hunter, RHP, Battle (MO), 2017
Hunter is a 6-foot 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class, recently committed to Eatern Illinois. Hunter posted the top fastball of the event at 90 mph, working 87-90 mph, fastball down in the zone, late run, breaking ball has sharp and late action, mostly 11-to-5 action, some flashing sharp slider movement, change up has fade, 78-82 mph, strong bodied with arm strength, controlled delivery, in line stride, repeats delivery.   

Dakota Letourneau, RHP, Campus (KS), 2017
Letourneau is a 6-foot-5 255-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas 2017 class. Letourneau throws with regular effort, over the top release, in line stride, fastball at 77-80 mph, down in zone, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, 66-67 mph, gradual break, change up at 66-69 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Holden Missey, RHP, Blue Valley Northwest (KS), 2018
Missey is a 6-foot-3 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Missey has an over the top release, throws with some effort, slightly across the body, fastball at 81-82, one of top fastball velos for the event, throws on downward plane, some late life with running action, breaking ball has 10-to-4 action, 65-70 mph, late/gradual movement, change up has slight sink, near fastball arm speed, 71-73 mph, flashed command of all three pitches.

Zavier Morin, RHP, Gardener-Ederton (KS), 2018
Morin is a 6-foot-1 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Morin has a lean frame with a controlled delivery, over the top release, accelerated down the mound, throws with some effort at the end of delivery, loose arm action, fastball at 78-81 mph, one of the top fastball velos for the event, some late cut, breaking ball at 67-68 mph, gradual and late movement, change up at 73-78 mph, has fading action, near fastball arm speed.

Kreighton Rogers, RHP, Campus (KS), 2017
Rogers is a 5-foot-10 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class. Rogers has an over the top release, simple and easy delivery, repeates, fastball at 78-79 mph, some late running action, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, 65-66 mph, can throw for a strike, change up at 66-71 mph, some with late fade, fastball arm speed.

Brendan Ryan, RHP, St. Thomas Aquinas (KS), 2018
Ryan is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Ryan has a loose high three-quarters release, hands raise with knee lift, in line stride, showed command of three pitches, fastball at 80-81 mph, one of the top fastball velos for the event, curveball has 11-to-5 action, 66-68 mph, late action, down in the zone, controllable change up at 73-75 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Nolan Schoenhofer, RHP, Maize (KS), 2017
Schoenhofer is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class. Schoenhofer worked in the zone with his fastball at 71-73 mph, flashed late run, 11-to-5 shaped curveball at 69-70 mph, change up showed some fading action, 69-70 mph, low three quarters arm slot, slender frame, throws with some effort, smooth tempo in delivery.

Andrew Sumner, RHP, Mill Valley (KS), 2018
Sumner is a 5-foot-8 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class.  Sumner has a submarine style delivery, throws across his body, direction towards the right-handed hitter as he gets down the mound, fastball at 69-71 mph, late sink, 10-to-4 breaking ball, 64-66 mph, sweeping action, gradual, change up 65-66 mph, flashes some late sink, around the zone on every pitch.

Casey Wulfkuhle, LHP, Shawnee Heights (KS), 2017
Wulfkhule is a 6-foot 175-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas 2017 class.  Wulfkuhle has a high three quarters release, quick arm speed, in line stride, throws with regular effort, worked fastball in the zone at 82-84 mph, top let-handed fastball velo of the event, flashed sink, 1-to-7 breaking ball, 69-71 mph, some with late break, change up at 71-73 mph, some showing hard sinking action.
