Player Spotlight: SS Kyle Vance (Wentzville Holt, 2015)

Kyle Vance (Wentzville Holt, 2015) is a wiry, athletic 6-foot-0, 168-pound right-hand hitting shortstop. At the 2015 Prospect Games in August, Vance a home-to-first time of 4.10, one of the event's best. He throws from an over-the-top arm slot and his throws were very accurate and had good carry. His has very good footwork and a quick release. His position velo was 79 MPH. At the plate, Vance has an athletic setup with a smooth load. During batting practice, Vance produced gap-to-gap line drives and had an exit velo of 87 MPH.

Last spring at Holt, Vance hit at a .379 clip, with 12 RBI and a .451 slugging percentage.  He struck out only six times in 93 plate appearances.  He received 1st Team All-Conference and All-District awards after the season. 

Vance is currently uncommitted and playing with Team Missouri this fall.  Below is what is happening with Vance. 

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Vance: Missouri Western and several JUCOs in the Midwest.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Vance: Not yet.  I do have visits scheduled over the next few weeks at Missouri Western, Heartland Community College and Lincoln Trail Community College.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Vance: I am looking for a school with a strong baseball tradition. I also would like to play somewhere in the Midwest.

PBR: How did you do your junior year at Wentzville Holt? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Vance: My team finished the season 17-10 with a disappointing loss to Francis Howell in districts. I ended the season with a .378 BA and 31 hits.  I received first team All-Conference and All-District honors.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Vance: I am very excited about this upcoming season and think Holt is going to put a solid team on the field.  I plan to be a team leader both on and off the baseball field.  Some personal goals for me include using the off-season to get stronger and quicker. And an All-Metro or All-State honor would be an awesome way to end my high school career. 

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Vance: I play travel ball for Team Missouri.  We will be playing a few tournaments together this fall.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Vance: No

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Vance: 2.9 GPA  / ACT 17
