Player Spotlight: RHP/OF Jamison Raines (Fort Osage, 2015)

Jamison Raines (Fort Osage, 2015) a projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. At the Class of 2015 Prospect Games in August, Raines showed a ¾ delivery with quick arm speed and throws with regular effort. He stays in-line with the target and has a fastball velocity in the range of 75-82 mph with run. His curveball was at 64-69 mph with 10-to-4 shape. Jamison’s change-up ranged from 73-75 mph with near fastball arm speed.

In the outfield. he throws from a high ¾ arm slot with mostly accurate and had good carry. Jamison plays through the ball.and has a position velo of 80 mph. At the plate, Raines has a balanced setup with a back load. Jamison stays inside the ball well and uses the middle of the field. He had an exit velo of 82 mph, and he posted a home-to-first time of 4.62.

Last season, Raines led Fort Osage to a 19-9 record, before losing to eventual district champion Liberty in the semifinals.  Raines tossed 50 innings, recording 61 strikeouts and allowed just 23 walks.  He finished the season with a 1.40 ERA, allowing just 10 earned runs, and a 6-2 record. 

Raines has sites set on his senior season and planning college visits.  Here is a look at what Raines has going on.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Raines: Maple Woods, Dodge City, university of St Mary's, Ft Scott. 

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Raines: Just visited Maple Woods, have scheduled visits with Ft Scott and Dodge City. 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Raines: Looking for somewhere close(ish) to home, good baseball program,with a criminal justice program.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Raines: I did well my junior year, pitched in some pretty important games, team did well. 

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season? Name some players that will play a key role for Fort Osage in 2015.

Raines: My goals for my Senior year are to continue to pitch well, to help my team as much as I can. Key role players would be Tyler Murphy and Aron Greer.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Raines: Played for Prodigy this summer and Prodigy this fall.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Raines: I play football, I am a defensive back. 

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Raines: My ACT score is 16 ( taking it again) gpa is 2.5.
