RHP Spencer Juergens (Borgia, 2015) pitched a quick inning in his outing at the Class of 2015 Prospect Games in Warrensburg on August 17. the 6-foot-4, 200-pound righty, worked at 86-87 MPH with his fastball and showed excellent feel for his curveball at 68-72 MPH and his change up at 72- 75 MPH. He has a clean, easy and very repeatable delivery.
Juergens was 7-1 last spring for Borgia, earning All-State honors for his efforts. He posted 1.06 ERA in 53 innings pitched, he k'd 37 and walked just eight hitters. During the summer, Juergens pitches for American Legion Post 218 out of Washington, MO, where he had continued success.
Recently, we had a chance to ask Juergens about his college opportunities.
Juergens: UCM, Lindenwood University, Rockhurst Univeristy, Jefferson College, and Webster University.
Juergens: I am in the process of lining up visits to UCM, and Jefferson College. I also plan on visiting Missouri and Southwest Missouri State early this fall.
Juergens: I am looking for a school with high academic standards, and potentially has a program that deals with weather (science). Also a school that has a strong baseball tradition. I would like to go school somewhere in the midwest region.
Juergens: I had a very strong jr. year. I finished the season 7-1 and had an era of 1.05 in 55 innings of work. I was named to the Missouri Class 4A All State team, honorable mention. I was my high school conference MVP, 1st team RHP, and 1st team at 3rd base. I was also All District for pitching.
Juergens: My team goal is to win state. I feel if we can stay healthy we should be able to make a serious run. Personally I have 3 goals; 1 do whatever it takes so we can win, 2 finish the season undefeated pitching, and 3, keep my era under 1 for the season.
Juergens: I play American Legion baseball for Washington Post 218, Washington MO .they have a great program and are usually strong year in and year out. This past summer I started the season by throwing 32 scoreless innings. I finished the season 5-1, with an era of .45.
Juergens: I play baseketball for Borgia.
Juergens: ACT - 22, GPA - 3.78
