Player Spotlight: OF/RHP Zack Davis (Kearney, 2015)

Zack Davis (Kearney, 2015) is one of the top two-way athletes in the state. Currently, the 6-foot-4 195-pound OF/RHP is currently leading the Bulldogs to a 5-1 record in football. He is getting offers from many NCAA Division 1 school to play football, but Davis weighing his options with baseball.
Davis, an uncommitted left-handed hitter, hit .400 last season with four home runs and 30 RBI. On the mound, he was 5-0 with 1.61 ERA and led Kearney to a 16-11 record in 2014. Last summer, Davis played for the Kansas City Barnstormers.
As of now, Davis is playing out the remainder of his senior football season and scheduling visits in both baseball and football. Here is a look into what he has planned.
PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
Davis: Indiana, Kansas St, Missouri St, Murray St., St. Louis, Air Force, Alabama Birmingham, Nebraska, Wichita St, Central Missouri, Missouri Western, Iowa Western. I also have several Division 1 offers in football as a wide receiver.
PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?
Davis: I visited Nebraska last year and am lining up other visits right now.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Davis: I want to play for a school that has a winning tradition and is capable of winning the world series. Other than that a strong coaching staff and great facilities are important to me.
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for Kearney in 2015?
Davis: Our team went 16-11. I hit .400 had 4 HRs and 30 RBIs. On the mound I went 5-0 with a 1.61 ERA. Next year we are returning 8 starters and should be very strong.
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Davis: To win a state championship, have my college decision made, and get drafted.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Davis: I play for the KC Barnstormers.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Davis: Yes, football.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Davis: 25 and 3.8
