Below is a glimpse of what Tieman has going on.
PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
Tieman: Most of the D1 interest I have received is from strong academic schools such as Duke, Stanford and multiple Ivy League schools. Recently, the majority of interest I am receiving is from MIAA schools and I'm also exploring options with JuCos.
PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?
Tieman: Thus far I have only taken unofficial visits. I am currently in the process of scheduling official visits. I know I will be going to UCM, MWSU, SBU, and KCKCC in September. Several other coaches have requested visits, but I will just have to see what I can fit into my schedule.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Tieman: I want to go to a school that provides the best combination of academics and baseball. Relationship with the coaching staff is also important. I want to be part of a program where coaches help develop me as the best ball player and best person I can become.
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?
Tieman: St. Joe Central plays in the very tough Kansas City Suburban League. Compared to other schools, we are a bit undermanned, but all of our guys compete hard. We finished the year one game under .500. The rest of our pitching staff has the potential to be really good, but I was the only one with significant varsity experience, so we struggled at times. I threw 6 complete games in 7 starts, pitching a total of 45 innings. I had a WHIP under 1.0 and a 5/1 K/BB ratio. I played outfield when not pitching and led the team in runs scored, batted .370 and only struck out 4 times in over 100 plate appearances. I have earned all City honors twice (St. Joseph); all News-Press honors twice; and all Suburban Conference twice (honorable mention/ 2nd team).
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season at St. Joseph Central?
Tieman: We didn't lose many starters from last year, so I feel that we have the potential to be better than we have been in past years. Last year provided some of the younger guys with valuable experience that they will be able to use in this coming year and years to come. If our guys can stay healthy, I feel that we have a chance to compete for the district title.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Tieman: I play for the Kansas City Cougars coached by Billy Sharp. I am also playing with them this fall.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Tieman: I also play basketball.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Tieman: I have a 4.31 GPA and a 30 ACT. I plan on taking the ACT again in October.
