A month after Tyler Niemann turned in a stellar performance at the Unsigned Senior Games in Kentucky, the 6-foot-3, 160-pound left-handed hitting catcher from Canton HS has committed to Morehead State.

Niemann especially impressed with his left-handed power potential at Northern Kentucky University on Aug. 10-11. He showed considerable bat speed, registering 88 mph exit velocity off a tee. During game play, he doubled to deep right-center field and tripled down the right field line. He also launched a long home run that just hooked foul.

Niemann hits from a tall, open setup and showcased barrel whip through the zone. As he continues to fill into his lanky frame, Niemann should develop more power in his swing, which will work well in Morehead State’s stadium that features a short porch in right and right-center field. Defensively, Niemann registered pop times of 2.06-2.16.
