6.4 Underclass Games at SLU: Outfield Analysis

On June 4 at Saint Louis University, Prep Baseball Report held the Underclass Games. Today we take a look at the outfielders.
Craig Theiss (De Soto, 2017)
Theiss is a big, strong 6-foot-6, 205-pound right hand hitting outfielder. He throws with long arm action and has good carry on his throws. He was also very accurate from the outfield. Craig displayed athleticism moving his feet. His position velo was clocked at 81 MPH. At the plate, Theiss starts with an athletic setup and has a smooth load. He takes a short stride and a short bath path, that produces good gap-to-gap power. He has power to all fields. Craig's exit velo was 87 MPH, and he had an 7.19 60.
Dalton Hill (Lee’s Summit, 2017)
Hill is an athletic, projectable 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-hand hitting outfielder. He showed good footwork and clean exchanges. He has long arm throwing motion from an over-the-top slot. His postion velo was 84 mph with mostly accurate throws. At the plate, Hill has an athletic stance and a short stride. He has an explosive lower half and has line drive, pull power. His exit velo was 82 mph, and his 60 time was 7.15.
Jess Davis (Kearney, 2017)
Davis is a projectable, athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound OF. He has a strong arm with a position velo of 76 MPH. Davis moves well and gets good reads off the bat. At the plate, he has an athletic setup with a smooth load. He uses his lower half well and has fast bat speed with a level swing. Davis displayed good pull power. His exit velo was 80 MPH, he also has excellent speed with a 6.84 60.

Jake Evans (Park Hill South, 2017)
Evans is an athletic 6-foot-1, 165-pound right hand hitting outfielder. He moves well and gets good reads. Jake gets good carry on his throws and was mostly accurate. His position velo was 74 MPH. At the plate, he starts with a balanced setup and a smooth load. He gets good drive from his lower half and stays balanced through the swing. Jake's bat speed is above average and keeps a level bat path. His exit velo was 73 MPH and runs a 7.22 60.
Harry Hegeman (MICDS, 2017)
Hegeman is an athletic 5-foot-7 140-pound left handed hitting outfielder. In the outfield, Hegeman has a fluid, clean exchange with very accurate throws. He gets behing the ball well and takes great routes. He had a positional velo of 76 MPH and his throw had good carry. At the plate, he started from a balanced, athletic position and produces a level bat path with gap-to-gap line drives. He dives a bit and makes good contact. He has an exit velo of 76 MPH and a 6.70 60.
Ben Holsclaw (Francis Howell, 2017)
Holsclaw is a lanky 6-foot-1, 144-pound left hand hitting outfielder. He gets good reads on the ball. Ben gets good carry on his throws and had a position velo of 74 MPH. At the plate, he starts with a tall, athletic setup and has a smooth load. He takes a short stride and uses his lower half well. Holsclaw attacks the ball with good bat speed and produces line drives. His exit velo was 73 MPH and his 60 time is 7.41.
Brady McAfee (Marquette, 2017)
McAfee is a projectable 6-foot-1, 165-pound right hand hitting outfielder. He has long arm action and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good carry on his throws. His position velo was 78 MPH. At the plate, McAfee starts with an athletic closed stance. He has a drop load with above average bat speed. He could use more lower half to gain more power. His exit velo was 69 MPH, and he runs a 7.39 60.
Noah Newman (Raymore Peculiar, 2017)
Newman is a hard nosed 5'10, 150-pound right hand hitting SS/OF. He showed nice athleticism with quick feet and fluid motions. Noah has an over the top delivery with long arm action. Offensively, he displayed a balanced setup and swing. Newman has good balance through his swing. There is some gap-to-gap power potential with a 76 MPH exit velo. He runs a 7.20 60.
Parker Sampson (Park Hill, 2017)
Sampson showed athletic actions and an accurate throwing arm. He took good routes to the ball in the outfield. He's a versatile player that plays infield and outfield. Parker throws from an over the top arm slot with a long arm action. At the plate, he displayed a balanced setup with a smooth load. His swing is short and has a good level bat path. His bat creates an exit velo of 73 MPH and he runs a 7.60 60.
