Woodbat Exposure Tournament- Game Recaps

On September 19 and 20, 2015 the Iowa Sticks Baseball Program hosted the Woodbat Exposure Tournament. The tournament consisted of 13 teams in the 16U bracket and 13 teams in the 18U bracket playing at various sites in the greater Des Moines area in a round-robin style format. In conjunction with the Iowa Sticks; Prep Baseball Report Iowa assisted in reporting, player evaluation, and scoring updates throughout the tournament; along with facilitating a pre-tournament identification showcase before the event.

Woodbat Exposure Tournament- Game Recaps
Nebraska Prospects 9 IA Elite 18U 2
2018 Ryan Obrecht threw a complete game for the Prospects allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs. Obrecht threw 75 pitches in the contest and tallied 7 strikeouts. 2018 SS Brenton Davis was 3-3 with a double and triple; while Wade Deist, Garett Svoboda and Jack Tillman each collected 2 RBI's. For Iowa Elite 18U; Tim Neff and Cade Schares each had a double and an RBI.
IA Elite 18U 9 IA Sticks Black 18U 1
Braden Shepard went 4 innings on the mound allowing 0 runs and collecting 7 strikeouts. Cade Schares went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's. For the Sticks; 2017 Jared Hermon competed well on the mound and 2016 Noah Catron played above average defensively at catcher.
Great Lakes Lumberjacks Red 18U 4 Nebraska Prospects 4
Will Maschka played well defensively making a diving stop to end the 4th and keep the Prospects in the game. 2017 Alex Scarpello picked up 4 K's and allowed 5 hits on the mound. 2018 Aaron Mischo, RF/1B, had an RBI single and scored a run.
Great Lakes Lumberjacks Black 18U 1 Iowa Sticks Black 18U 1
Luke Roudabush continued his tear on the base paths collecting 2 stolen bases. The IA Sticks squad was led by Nathan Sowers who threw well, consistently pounding the strike zone, and the defensive play of Evan Eastin at shortstop.
IA Sticks Black 16U 5 Indians 16U 1
Nathan Chasey, Drew Beazley and Andrew Irvine combined on the mound to scatter 7 hits and 1 unearned run. Irvine chipped in an RBI single in the 5th inning.
Great Lakes Lumberjacks Black 18U 4 MN Blizzard Black 18U 2
2016 Bo Lovdahl had a double and triple in the win. Big blow came off the bat of 2016 Alex Farley; with a bases loaded double to give the Lumberjacks the lead. AJ Overton went 6 innings on the mound and competed well.
Great Lakes Lumberjacks Red 18U 8 Iowa Sticks 0
Alex Jantz and Ben Clysdale combined on a shutout; allowing 4 hits and collecting 8 strikeouts in the win. Tommy Lentz went 3-3 with a double, 2 RBI's and a run scored.
MN Blizzard Black 16U 1 IA Sticks Black 16U 0
The MN Blizzard scored a run in the 7th inning to win 1-0. LHP Leo Pfarr was dominant on the mound throwing 65 strikes/25 balls and recorded 15 strikeouts. Patzner, McMurray and Cade Ingalls combined to allow 1 earned run in the defeat. Patzner and Waechter recorded the only hits for the Sticks in the shut-out.
Complete Game 13 Great Lakes Lumberjacks Red 17U 0
2017 Grant Carver went 3 innings on the mound allowing 0 runs. Connor Ellefson had a hit, stolen base, and threw out a runner attempting to move up to second.
IA Sticks Red 18U 6 Great Lakes Lumberjacks Red 17U 5
Colin Lacey was dominant on the mound for the Sticks going 4 innings while allowing 1 run with 7 strikeouts in the victory.
IA Sticks 17U 5 Complete Game 1
For the Sticks; Isaac Sourus had 2 hits and 2 stolen bases; Cole Hassman had 2 hits, a double, and an RBI. Andrew Zimmerman had 2 hits and an RBI.
Complete Game 16U 4 Great Lakes Lumberjacks 2
Andrew Simonson was outstanding in relief throwing 5 shut-out innings in relief to lead Complete Game over the Lumberjacks squad.
Indians 5 IA Sticks Red 15U 1
The Indians scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure their win vs. the Sticks. Casey Young went 5 innings on the mound allowing 1 unearned run with 6 strikeouts in the victory.
IA Elite 16U 6 IA Sticks Red 16U 1
IA Eite pushed 5 runs across the plate in the top of the 7th to up-end the Sticks 6-1. Joe Bagley went 6 innings for Elite allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts in the victory. Will Nigut went 4 scoreless innings on the mound for the Sticks; allowing 1 hit and picking up 4 strikeouts.
IA Sticks Scout 3 Nebraska Prospects 3
For the Nebraska squad; 2018 Wade Deist went 4 innings on the mound allowing 5 hits, 1 earned, with 3 strikeouts. Aaron Mischa had 2 doubles and an RBI. IA Sticks Max Utsler had a 4th inning triple to drive in a run.
