Name: Luke Wade
Position: RHP
Class: 2016
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 175-pounds
High School: Minnetonka
PBR Rank: #66 in MN 2016 Class

PBR: Why did you choose Des Moines Area CC?
WADE: I chose DMACC for a couple of reasons. First of all the pitching coach, Harley Thompson, is a family friend who I gained a good relationship with during my one year playing for MAP Baseball. Also my whole family has gone to school in Iowa and I enjoy the outdoors; hunting and fishing offered in the area of Boone.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
WADE: I was considering two other schools- Dakota County Technical College and Century College.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
WADE: I first met Coach Thompson during my year at MAP Baseball (aka TCBA). He coached my fall team. After that I pitched for the Blizzard during the summer and played against Coach Thompson's TCBA team.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
WADE: I do feel relieved about the whole process of choosing a college. It's relieving knowing that I'm absolutely sure that I made the right decision to further my baseball career and to further my education as well. DMACC fits all my wants and needs perfectly.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
WADE: The relationship I had with Coach Thompson helped me make a decision. I have a lot of trust in him and know that he would not lead me wrong. I also enjoy the fact that my sister, Anna, goes to school at Drake University in Des Moines. That just helped make my decision easier to make.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
WADE: There's many people who helped me, but I think the two people that have helped me the most have been Joe Loftus (my summer and fall baseball coach) and Adam Barta. Both of these men have helped me more than I could imagine over the past year and I'm very grateful to have had these two guys by my side through anything.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
WADE: The recruiting process was made a lot easier with the people you choose to help you along the road. I think that the Blizzard program does a great job of taking a lot of the stress of recruiting off their players and helps them focus on becoming better baseball players during the process.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
WADE: I haven't talked in depth with the coaching staff about my role next year, but they told me I will have a shot at some innings.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
WADE: The most memorable baseball moment I've had was my start in East Cobb this summer. The game started at 11 PM. I threw a complete game shutout. I believe that I have my team to thank for that as they didn't make an error and had some great defensive and offensive plays behind me.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
WADE: The best player I've competed against would have to be Joey Polak. He's a South Carolina commit with a great bat. I pitched against him and his Iowa select team at a tournament in Iowa last year.
