The Prep Baseball Report Minnesota's Fall Review took place on October 25, 2015 at the Vadnais Heights Sports Center. The showcase featured prospects from the 2016' 2017 and 2018 classes who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff, college coaches, and professional scouts.
Today we have released our evaluations on the 2016 grads in attendance. Many, if not all, show the ability to play beyond high school and offer college coaches numerous options.

2016 prospects (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)
Logan Becker, SS, Shakopee, 2016
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitting infielder. 7.5 runner. Double tap trigger. Shows balance in swing. Quiet head to contact. Some length in bat path. Line drive swing plane with gap to gap approach producing consistent solid contact. 80 mph exit velocity off tee. Good hands with solid ability to field. Average actions with solid accuracy to bag. Short arm action producing 78 mph velo across diamond.
Jay Beckman, RHP, Mankato East, 2016
6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. Sidestep windup. Slight lean in balance point. H3/4 arm slot with pause and wrap on backside. Good direction to plate and lands closed. Fastball was 78-80 mph with running action and solid command. 12/6 breaking ball is thrown for strikes with small break. Changeup has toppling action with run and sink.
Tanner Bellrichard, OF, Albert Lea, 2016
5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.37 runner. Medium length to stride with balance. Arm bar in load. Short finish after contact. Inside out at contact. Uses whole field with avg. pop in bat. 74 mph exit velocity off tee. Aggressive routes to baseball. Shows solid feet and glove defensively. Tends to field on side of baseball. Throws are accurate with ok carry to target. 76 mph arm strength.
Hunter Brommerich, SS, Lewiston-Altura, 2016
6-foot, 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 6.94 runner. Front heel turn trigger. Transfers weight to contact. Falls back occasionally limiting extension. Uses hands well in swing. Gap to gap approach and uses whole field with avg. pop in bat. 73 mph exit velo. Plays through baseball on defense. Shows ok feet with avg. glove. Sinking action on throws with accuracy to bag at 76 mph.
Scott Finberg, 3B, Stillwater, 2016
6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman. 7.59 runner. Open stance with front heel turn trigger. Gap to gap approach. Barrel out and around at contact. Spins through zone with lower half; barrel first hitter. Strength in swing with 89 mph exit velocity off tee. Shows soft hands in field. Fields deep in stance; funnels baseball in. Solid feet with ability on back-hand and above avg. actions on body control plays. Avg. carry on throws from short arm action with accuracy to bag. 78 mph arm strength.
Mason Hammer, OF, Albert Lea, 2016
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.03 runner. Short stride with front heel turn trigger. Short to contact with compact swing. Pull approach. Flashes ok pop to pull-side of field. Out front at contact occasionally causing barrel to be out and around. 77 mph exit velocity off tee. Avg. actions in field. Short bow and arrow arm action. Throws are online with avg. carry to target. 81 mph arm strength from outfield.
Nate Larson, OF, Bemidji, 2016
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.03 runner. Strides across body to contact. Slight arm bar. Dead pull approach. Slashy swing plane producing consistent hard contact. 73 mph exit velocity off tee. Avg. actions in field. H3/4 arm slot with wrap in back of arm action. Solid accuracy to target with avg. carry on throws. 73 mph arm strength.
Tommy Lentz, RHP/3B, Andover, 2016
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.22 runner. Sidestep delivery. Lands across body. Clean arm action with slight stab on backside. Has good extension to plate. Fastball was 81-83 mph with flashes of run and avg./ok life. Cutter showed varying shape with tight rotation and small break. Occasional run and sink on changeup with avg./ok fade. Spread stance offensively. High back elbow set-up. Lifts body through contact. Middle/pull approach. Solid pop in bat and flashes hard line drives when stays inside ball at contact. 80 mph exit velocity. Shows solid ability with feet and glove in field. Above avg. body control on slow roller. Long clean arm action with above avg. carry and accuracy across diamond with 82 mph arm strength.
Collin Lynch, OF, Holy Angels, 2016
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.43 runner. Small leg kick trigger. Out front at contact. Short swing. Consistent solid contact producing hard ground balls. Uses whole field in approach. 81 mph exit velocity off tee. Good feet and glove in outfield. Fields out front. Some hitch in arm action. Shows some athleticism in outfield. Avg. carry on throws with good accuracy to target. 72 mph arm strength.
Nicholas Novak, SS, Stillwater, 2016
5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting shortstop. 6.88 runner. Clean swing plane with ability to use whole field. Out front occasionally at contact. 81 mph exit velocity off tee. Light on his feet with good actions in field. Solid accuracy across diamond with quick release. 75 mph arm strength across diamond. #44 ranked player in 2016 class.
Alexander Schwartz, C, Hopkins, 2016
6-foot, 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Physical behind plate with good leadership qualities. Directs traffic from position. Solid pop to gaps with gap to gap approach. Lifts through at contact with body occasionally. 87 mph arm strength. Low stance with quiet actions. Receives and blocks well with quick feet and flexibility. Low release on throws with above avg. arm strength. 2.00-2.09 pop times with 81 mph arm strength.
Ben Vanhove, SS, Edina, 2016
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 6.93 runner. Has continually improved over last year. Gap to gap approach at plate. Hard line drives when stays on/through contact. Shows good hands in swing with ability to use whole field. 82 mph exit velocity off tee. Showed well defensively with good energy and solid actions. Active feet with good control. Soft glove on back hand. Overall ability to make plays. 83 mph arm strength across diamond.
Jacob Zwak, OF, Tartan, 2016
6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.63 runner. Strong build. Gap to gap approach with good weight transfer. Solid pop in bat. Uses hands well in swing. Lacks extension through contact and spins off occasionally. 74 mph exit velocity off tee. Avg./ok actions if field. Left field arm strength. Solid glove with avg. footwork. Limited carry on throws at 75 mph.
