We’ve tracked the Class of 2015 for the last four years, and it all culminates this week with the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on June 8. This crop of seniors features a deep and talented group from across our 25-state coverage area.
National Supervisor Nathan Rode has already rolled out his National Top 50 list. Here, in the final Top 400 Overall 2015 rankings, we focus only on the prospects in our coverage area that our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff has tracked over the years.
While there are many high-level prospects in the PBR Overall rankings, there’s none bigger than SS Brendan Rodgers (Lake Mary HS, FL), who also headlines the National Top 50 list. Rodgers (pictured right) has been the top prep prospect in the country for the last year, and should be a top five pick in the draft.
Not much has changed at the top of the overall rankings, in fact. RHP Mike Nikorak (Strousburg HS, PA) and RHP Ashe Russell (Cathedral HS, IN), both hard-throwing right-handers, follow behind Rodgers and should each hear their name called on the first night of the draft. A trio of outfield prospects – Kyle Tucker (Plant HS, FL), Nick Plummer (Brother Rice, MI) and Garrett Whitley (Niskayuna HS, NY – are all first-round talents and hold firm in the top 10.
LHP Juan Hillman (Olympia HS, FL) is the only southpaw in the top 10. Few pitchers in the country have been as consistent as Hillman over the course of the year. RHP Donny Everett (Clarksville HS, TN) features arguably the best fastball in the class, while RHP Triston McKenzie (Royal Palm Beach HS, FL) is one of the most projectable arms in the country. New to the top 10 is RHP Brady Singer (Eustis HS, FL), a 6-foot-5 Florida recruit who has been one of the biggest risers this spring.
While the top 10 has remained largely intact, there have been significant shakeups throughout the overall Top 400 list. Left-handed hitting 3B Trey Cabbage (Grainger HS, TN) is one of the biggest risers this spring, jumping up nearly 50 spots into the top 20. Other big risers include: OF Miles Gordon (St. Ignatius of Loyola, ON), LHP Logan Allen (IMG Academy HS, FL), 1B Kolton Kendrick (Oak Forest HS, LA), INF Zach Kone (Pine Crest HS, FL), RHP Ryan Cyr (Blue Valley HS, KS), RHP Hunter Parsons (Parkside HS, MD), RHP Logan Crouse (Bloomingdale HS, FL), RHP Ryan McKay (Satellite Beach HS, FL) and Zach Minnick (Logan HS, WV), to name a few.
Enough reading about it. See for yourself. A look at the Top 10:
