The Hotlist: Players Of The Summer
September 3, 2014
By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff
Labor Day weekend signified the unofficial end to the summer season so this week’s Hotlist is looking at some of the top players of the last few months. The prospects below—whether they were established or breakout players—had good performances at multiple events this summer while showing next-level ability.
Nate Brown, RHP, Arrowhead HS, WI (2016)
Brown helped his cause more than any other Wisconsin prospect this summer. Arrowhead plays their high school season in the summer, but like many high-level prospects that are looking for more exposure, Brown chooses not to play high school baseball. Brown stood out at several national tournaments playing for STIKS Academy out of Oconomowoc and his summer rise culminated at the Prep Baseball Report Future Games where he was one of the top prospects in attendance. Brown sat 88-90 mph in two one-inning stints on back-to-back days and showcased a swing-and-miss breaking ball at 72-75. Several schools have since recruited Brown, including ACC, Big Ten, Pac 12 and SEC programs. No player in the state improved his stock more than Brown this summer.
