Team Michigan Future Games Spotlight: Luke McGuire, RHP/3B

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Michigan will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Michigan at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Past Showcase/In-Game Performances: 
Date: 3/8/15
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect. Quick, athletic ¾ arm action. Fastball was located down well at 83-86 mph. Slider with late cut action at 75-77 mph. Changeup with good sink at 77-79 mph. Showed good range and soft hands fielding the baseball at third base. Threw 85 mph across the infield. Plus power and consistently squares the baseball up at the plate. Bat speed registered at 94 mph.

Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 180 pound strong athlete. Showed solid mechanics on the mound with the ability to command his pitches. Fastball sat 76-78. Changeup showed good sink at 71-73. Showed good hands and solid footwork in the infield. Has a low-¾ arm slot across the infield, which hurts his accuracy. Strong bat at the plate with good extension through the baseball. Bat speed was at 90. Ran a 4.74 home to 1st.

Luke McGuireThoughts on being selected to play at the Future Games and represent the state of Michigan: "Being selected to the Futures Games is one of my biggest accomplishments and was my goal going into this year of baseball. Being able to represent my state with some of the best players in it is quite the honor and I thank PBR for the invitation and all they do for recruiting."

How has PBR helped as far as recruiting and exposure: "PBR has put my name out to a lot of coaches board, due to my success in a few showcases college coaches have been able to see what I can do and show interest from that."

Awards or academic accolades you have received: "I've been invited to a few academic summer programs an I'm a honor student at my school."

GPA: 4.0 GPA

Fun Fact (Anything unique about yourself): "I didn't like baseball until I was 9 years old, growing up I actually thought I was going to become a ninja."
