AT THE TOP
While several prospects have made their case for the state's top player. OF Noah Stout has earned the crown as the number one player in the class of 2020 in the initial rankings. Rounding out the top three are SS/RHP Parker Pilat and LHP Logan Wood. Both were impressive at last summer's Future 50 and improved as they entered our high school winter events.
Stout is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound well developed outfielder with an advanced game at the plate. Swinging from the left side of the plate has keeps his hands in the zone driving the ball consistently. Currently projects as a corner OF. Has good baseball genes, his older brother is currently pitching at the University of Toledo.
Pilat is a well rounded athlete standing 6-foot-3, 170-pound middle infielder who is an above average fielder. Stands out in the field with good glove work and range. He played two varsity sports as a freshman (basketball & baseball).
Wood is a highly projectable LHP prospect. Standing 6-foot, 160-pounds he is highly projectable. Wood has topped at 82 mph which we can easily see him climbing the velocity ladder along with his sharp curve and deceptive changeup.
The Two-Way Prospects
As to be expected the 2020 class has several strong two-way prospects as guys in the younger ages have not began specializing at a position just yet. RHP/1B Jack Blesch and SS/RHP Grant Stephenson are guys to keep an eye on.
Blesch is a a 6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way strong framed prospect. In the field he moves well around 1B with enough range to play 3B as well. On the mound, has the top breaking ball of any player in the 2020 class, throwing a sharp late breaking slider. Fastball sits 81-83 mph with a heavy fill.
Stephenson is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound two-way prospect with a long projectable frame. He has wide shoulders and long legs that we can see continuing to fill out over the years. In the field has good actions at SS ranging well, moving through the baseball. On the mound he's more advanced using a nice arm whip throwing from a high-3/4 angle. Showcased two off-speed pitches with his curve being the go to pitch at the moment.
