Michigan Draft Preview
May 31, 2015
By Nathan Rode and Aaron Wilson
The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
Michigan hasn’t had a high school prospect picked in the first round since LHP Ryan Anderson went 19th overall to the Mariners in 1997. That will change this year with OF Nick Plummer (Brother Rice HS, MI). The last time two players were picked in the top 10 rounds out of high school was 2009. That has less of a chance to happen thanks to signability being a factor, but RHP Luke Shilling (Notre Dame Prep, MI) is worthy of consideration.
Top Prospects
1. Nick Plummer, OF, Brother Rice HS, MI
Plummer burst onto the scene last summer with strong showings at several high profile events and earned a late invitation to the Under Armour All-America Game. A Kentucky recruit, he has a strong frame at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds.
