The Prep Baseball Report is extremely pleased to announce the addition of Jake Sabol as the Michigan Scouting Director. Sabol's baseball roots run deep throughout Michigan and his background is unique and diversified with experience at all levels of play.

Most recently, Sabol served as the pitching coach at Northwood University. In addition to working closely with the pitchers, he was heavily involved in recruiting and player development. This past year, he crisscrossed the state while serving as lead recruiter for Northwood, eventually hauling in a class with over 20 incoming recruits.

Prior to his time at Northwood, Sabol served as the pitching coach at Alma College. He played a key role in the recruitment and development of Florida native Jose Velez, who led all of Division III baseball in strikeouts per nine innings and later went on to sign professionally with the Minnesota Twins.

A 2006 graduate of De La Salle High School in Warren, Sabol went on to play collegiately at Central Michigan University and became a four-year letter winner from 2007-2011. A weekend starter for two seasons, he helped lead the Chippewas to two MAC West Championships as well as a MAC Regular Season Championship in 2010.  Sabol was also named MAC West Pitcher of the Week twice in his career with Central Michigan.

Following his college career, Sabol was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 2011 MLB Draft.  He spent parts of two seasons in the Detroit farm system with the Gulf Coast League Tigers (Rookie) and the Connecticut Tigers (SS-A) in the New York Penn League. Sabol finished his playing career in the Frontier League with the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Sabol graduated from Central Michigan with a degree in sports management, finishing his career on the MAC Honor Roll. He has also just completed his Masters of Business Administration from Northwood University.
