Inside the Recruitment: '15 3B Pete Zeimis commits to Davenport
November 1, 2014
PBR: Why did you choose Davenport?
Zeimis: It felt like a perfect fit for me every since my first visit there. And the whole coaching staff and players were very welcoming and seemed happy to have me there.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Zeimis: I was also considering Saginaw Valley State, Northwood, Siena Heights, and a few junior colleges.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?
Zeimis: I went up to there campus and field for a workout and I pitched, hit, and played the field for them.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.
Zeimis: I played for Motor City Baseball Club and my most memorable is playing at Michigan State multiple times including the championship in one tournament.
PBR: Davenport has a beautiful baseball stadium. How much of a role did that play in your decision?
Zeimis: It didn't really influence my decision about going there or not because everything else is great but the stadium is beautiful and playing on it will be something I will never forget.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Zeimis: My expectations was to contact as many schools that I was interested in and then narrow it down to fewer and fewer schools. It was a lot more stressful than I expected.
PBR: What were your stats last spring season?
Zeimis: My stats were 39.0 innings pitched, 5-2 record, 36 strikeouts, 13 walks, 1.79 ERA, and a 1.28 WHIP.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced?
Zeimis: There's a lot but I would have to say Eric Gilgenbach, he's a great hitter. He always finds a way to put the bat on the ball whether it's for contact or power.
