EAST LANSING, MI – The Bay City Western Warriors knock off Grosse Pointe South 6-2 to claim back-to-back state championships in Division 1.

The Warriors got an outstanding performance on the mound and at the plate from Jason Clark. The righty went the distance allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out five. Clark also had a perfect game going until allowing three hits and two runs in the fifth.

Those two runs were an afterthought as the Warriors pounded out 13 hits en route to six runs.

Bay City Western got it started early scoring three in the first.

Clark led the game off with a single to right. After a pop out, catcher Carson Eby singled through the left side bringing to the plate Justin Gorr (Triton College).

The first baseman roped a two-run double to the gap in right center and later scored on an RBI double by Hunter David which put the Warriors on top 3-0.

Western kept on the offensive in the second, scoring one run.

Clark got it started with a two out single, promptly stealing second. Seth Freed (Seminole State College OK) scored Clark on an RBI single to put Western on top 4-0.

The Warriors got a run in the fourth and the fifth to extend their lead to 6-0.

In the fourth, Tyler Snover singled, moved up on back-to-back bunt singles by David Fegan and Jason Clark. With the bases loaded Feed scored Snover on a sacrifice fly.

In the fifth, Gorr doubled and moved up to third on a bunt single by Scott Badour. Gorr scored on an infield single by David.

Grosse Pointe South got on the board in the fifth with two runs.

Unsigned senior Ron Williams broke up the perfect game with a single to start the inning. After a strikeout James Fishback tripled to right scoring Williams. Fishback scored on an RBI single by Jacob Stone. But that was all the Blue Devils got off of Clark.

• Jason Clark, went the distance allowing just two runs (both in 5th) on three hits while striking out five. At the plate Clark had three singles, a stolen base and two runs scored.
• Justin Gorr, had two singles, two runs scored and two RBIs.
• Carson Eby, had two singles and a run scored.
• Andrew Eaton, went three innings in relief without allowing a run while striking out one.
• James Fishback, had an RBI triple and scored a run.
