10 Highlights from the PBR Future Games Positional Showcase

WESTFIELD, IN – The positional showcase portion of the Prep Baseball Future Games had many impressive highlights Thursday, certainly much more than can be properly articulated here after spending nine hours at the field.

Indeed, the PBR Future Games showcased many of the top 2016 and select 2017 prospects from 13 states at Grand Park’s state-of-the-art baseball complex before a packed house of college coaches from all over the country.

We will deliver much more in-depth analysis following the event, but here are 10 highlights from Thursday’s workout:

+ Cooper Johnson, C, Carmel HS, IL, 2016
The 6-foot, 185-pound Johnson has quickly become one of the hottest names in the country, and he showed why on Thursday. Johnson showcased the top defensive catcher arm at the event, firing a top pop time of 1.79 while being clocked at 81 mph from the crouch (both event highs). He also put on an impressive two rounds of BP, proving he is not just a catch-and-throw defensive prospect. ...
