Prospect Watch: 2016 Uncommitted Corner Infielders

Prospect Watch lists top specific players that are still available in the state. We will cover positional breakdowns as well as tools throughout the summer.  This edition of Prospect Watch is on some of the top 2016 corner infielders that are still available in the state that we have been able to see. Included in this will be a short description of the player.

2016 Corner Infielders Available

Jeff Jones 1B Calvert Hall
The 6-foot-6 Jones will be an imposing threat as he continues to add weight to his long and lanky frame. Moves well at the bag and shows a short stroke at the plate with power potential.

David Larson 1B/RHP McDonough
Larson still is filling out his 6-foot-2 frame. Has power potential and moves well at first base.  Add on top of that he gets up to 84 on the mound and it makes for an interesting skill set for some program.

Phil LoMedico SS/3B Calvert Hall
LoMedico moves well and has good hands at short, but more-than-likely projects as a third baseman in college. Nice frame and skill set with some pop in the bat getting up to 89 in exit velocity.

John Palin 3B/1B Riverdale Baptist
Palin is a strong young player with some raw ability. Moves well in the field that he could play either corner position. Athletic base at the plate that has some power already and could be a middle of the order guy in a lineup.

Max Rogers 3B/SS Mount St. Joseph
Rogers showed off arm strength this summer getting up to 87 from the outfield and 83 across the diamond.  A level swing with some bat speed. Has experience on the mound as well. A frame that could hold some bulk and make for a interesting prospect.

Cade Rousseau 3B JM Bennett
Sound actions as an infielder with some arm strength across the diamond. Might be more of a first baseman. Quick bat with a level path and gap-to-gap hitting ability.

Brad Sawyer 1B/LHP Gaithersburg
Sawyer is an athletic first baseman with a short stroke and barrel control, top of the order type hitter. Could possibly put him in the outfield if you needed to. On the mound pitches 79-82 mph.  

Other Names of Note

DJ Coleman at Southern moves well around the bag and is another player on the Southern roster with some athletic ability and projection... Damond Nixon at Archbishop Curley shows some raw ability and is an interesting left handed hitting prospect... Dwayne Thomas had a big year for Paint Branch last year and shows some strength and ability to use all fields... Ian Heffley at Avalon shows a quick bat at the plate and once he fills out his frame could be a middle of the order guy for some program... Barrett Smith at Spalding has an interesting skill set and athleticism in a loaded team and 2016 class for the Cavaliers.
