The Maryland Preseason ID took place on Sunday, February 21. Over 80 players from across Maryland and Delaware were in attendance showcasing their talent in front of the PBR Maryland staff.

Over the course of the next week we will be releasing the positional analysis articles with detailed scouting reports on each player in attendance. We shall also identify top performers in each positional category along with a younger talent (2018 and younger) as a Future Watch if applicable.
Today we take a look at the corner infielders that participated in the event. Another positional area full with talent, choosing Top Performers was a tough one.
TOP PERFORMERS
Matthew Gibbs 3B Mount St. Joseph 2017
Athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. Ran a 6.82 60-yard dash. Hits from a square athletic set up. Short path to the baseball with extension through contact. Creates fast bat speed. Good rhythm and balance throughout swing. Nice lower half usage with gap-to-gap hitting style and power potential at plate. Exit velocity of 86 mph. Sound footwork in the infield. Clean hands and exchange, throwing from a ¾ arm angle with a short and quick arm action. Throws across the infield at 75 mph. One to keep an eye on in the 2017 class.
Grason Winterbottom 1B James M. Bennet 2017
Strong, athletic frame at 6-foot, 190-pounds. Ran a 7.80 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic slightly open stance. Strong set up with smooth load, knee turn, to athletic hitting position. Nice rhythm in swing. Has level swing path with fast bat speed. Pull side power and potential for more. Exit velocity of 88 mph. Shows nice lower half usage, sometimes lands slightly closed in load. Sound footwork at first base. Clean exchange and works thru the ball. Has a sound arm action throwing from a ¾ arm slot. Throws across the infield has some carry at 79 mph.
Ryan Downes 1B St. Maria Goretti 2017
Imposing frame at 6-foot-1, 230-pounds. Ran a 7.87 60-yard dash. Stack athletic stance slightly open. Bigger leg kick to hitting position. Occasional double tap. Nice rhythm and shows balance through swing. Short swing that gets uphill at times. Creates quick bat speed and nice extension through contact. Exit velocity of 92 mph. Power potential at the plate. Sound footwork at the bag. Clean exchange to a short arm action throwing from a ¾ arm slot. Throws have some carry at 80 mph.
Abraham Mow 3B Milford (DE) 2017
Athletic frame at 5-11, 173 pounds. Hits from an athletic, slightly open set up with high hands. Short and smooth load with leg kick. Takes a short path to the baseball with quick hands and fast bat speed. Shows lower half with nice rhythm and balance throughout swing. Shows nice extension through contact. Exit velocity of 90 mph. Active feet in the infield. Short steps, works thru the ball well. Soft hands with clean exchange. Short arm action throwing from a ¾ arm slot. Throws across the infield at 78 mph.
FUTURE WATCH
Zachary Roberts 3B Chopticon 2018
Solid frame at 5-foot-10, 195-pounds. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash. Hits from a wide, athletic setup and slightly open. Gets to athletic hitting position. Level swing path with some bat speed. Gets lower half to work. Gets uphill at times with swing. Finishes on back leg at times. Exit velocity of 84 mph. Shows power potential. Gap-to-gap type hitter. Active feet in the infield. Clean hands and exchange. Short arm action and throws across the infield at 80 mph.

Johnathan Blanks 1B Bohemia Manor 2020
Athletic frame with room to grow at 5-foot-10, 160-pounds. Ran a 8.52 60-yard dash. Hits from a slightly open set up. Short stride and small load. Short, direct path to the baseball and gets some lower half usage. Nice base and balance through swing. Exit velocity of 74 mph. Sound footwork at first. Clean exchange throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. Shorter arm action with an infield velocity of 63 mph. Interesting foundation for the young athlete.
Dan Brown 1B Hodgson (DE) 2018
Athletic projectable frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Ran a 8.58 60-yard dash. Hits from a slightly open, athletic set up. Short load with stride to hitting position. Level swing path, and slightly gets uphill at times. Quick hands and could get more of his lower half involved in swing. Exit velocity of 75 mph. Active feet and nice footwork from the infield. Soft hands and clean exchange with a short arm action. Infield velocity of 68 mph.
Joe Curtin 3B Einstein 2018
Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic slightly open set up. Stacked position to stride. Level, longer swing path with some extension. Gets some lower half usage with finish on backside. Exit velocity of 83 mph. Active feet from the infield. Clean exchange and sound hands at third base. Short arm action throwing from a ¾ arm slot. Infield velocity of 73 mph.
Carson Fish 3B Kennard Dale 2018
Solid athletic frame to fill out at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. Ran a 9.51 60-yard dash. Short load with slight dive to hitting position. Has a level, direct swing path. Exit velocity of 62 mph. Active feet and clean hands and exchange at third. Short arm action with throws across the infield at 71 mph.
Colin Green 3B Parkside 2017
Lanky frame with room to grow at 5-foot-11, 145-pounds. Ran a 7.27 60-yard dash. Hits from an athletic slightly open stance. Short load to hitting position. Gets lower half involved. Level swing path and stays inside ball well. Some bat speed through contact. Exit velocity of 80 mph. Active feet and sound fundamentals in the field. Soft hands with clean exchange. Works thru ball well. Loose arm action throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. Throws across the infield clocked at 81 mph.
Alex Lilja 3B Northern York (PA) 2018
Athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. Ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. Hits from a square set up with smooth load and short stride to hitting position. Short path and smooth swing with some extension. Nice rhythm and balance throughout. Shows some bat speed. Exit velocity of 78 mph. Clean footwork with a clean and fast exchange from the infield. Gets rid of ball quick with short and quick arm action. Throws from high 3/4 arm slot at 78 mph. Interesting prospect in the 2018 class.
Roland Siwinski 1B Chesapeake 2017
Big frame with projectability at 6-foot-4, 240-pounds. Ran a 7.89 60-yard dash. Hits from a slightly closed setup in an athletic set up. Short load with short knee in to hitting position. Level bat path get that can get pull happy at times. Strong at plate. Some lower half usage. Exit velocity of 92 mph. Clean footwork, would like to see feet more active. Good exchange, short arm action from a ¾ arm slot and throws across infield at 80 mph. Interesting prospect with frame and skill set.
Jack Sullivan 3B Middletown 2017
Athletic projectable frame at 5-foot-11, 172-pounds. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash. Hits from a tall, slightly open set up. Leg kick in load to hitting position. Short swing path to the ball. Stays inside well, gets long on occasion. Shows some bat speed. Exit velocity of 82 mph. Sound footwork infield. Confident first step. Works thru the ball well. Will let ball get deep on him at times. Short whippy arm action throwing from a ¾ arm angle. Infield velocity of 74 mph.
