The Fall Underclass Invitational took place on November 5th 2016 on the campus of Harford Community College. Over 40 athletes were in attendance in front of the PBR Maryland scouting staff as well as colleges from around the region. Our coverage continues with evaluations from the corner infielders that attended the event.
Marcus Brown 1B DeMatha 2018
Strong frame at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash with a 1.83 10-yard split. Hits from an athletic setup. Short quick and quiet load. Level swing path with some lift in swing .fast bat speed with some pull side power. Nice extension through contact. Exit velocity of 92 mph. Solid actions in the infield at first. Clean exchange, sound footwork on turns. Infield velocity 79 mph.
Colby Buckheit 3B Chesapeake 2019
Solid frame with room to grow at 5-foot-10, 184-pounds. Ran a 8.15 60-yard dash with a 1.94 10-yard split. Hits from a square set up. Short load with shorter swing path. Stays inside ball well and some extension through contact. Nice rhythm throughout. Middle type approach during BP. Exit velocity of 85 mph. Sound footwork in infield. Clean exchange throwing from a high three quarter slot. Infield velocity of 74 mph.
Brendon Davis 1B Georgetown Prep 2018
Strong frame at 6-foot-2, 230-pounds. Ran a 8.05 60-yard dash with a 1.97 10-yard split. Hits from an athletic setup. Smooth load to hitting position with slight knee turn in load. Direct path to the ball with fast bat speed. Nice extension through contact. Loud contact during BP, power potential at the plate. Exit velocity of 94 mph. Sound fundamentals in the field. Clean exchange, not much wasted movements. Good footwork. Short arm action, quick turn to second. Infield velocity of 82 mph.
Colton Knoble 3B Archbishop Curley 2019
Projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Ran a 7.69 60-yard dash with a 1.95 10-yard split. Hits from a wider square set up. Short load back with knee turn to hitting position. Level swing path with some bat speed. Some extension through contact. Exit velocity of 87 mph. Sound footwork in the field. Sound exchange, loose arm action. Infield velocity of 78 mph.
Tyler Locklear 3B Archbishop Curley 2019
Strong projectable physical frame at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. Ran a 7.65 60-yard dash with a 1.9 10-yard split. Hits from a slightly open setup. Shorter swing path with ability to lift baseball and drive. Fast bat speed and very intriguing power potential and could be dangerous bat in middle on an order. Exit velocity of 96 mph. Solid actions in the field. Clean hands with exchange, not much wasted movements. Short arm action. Infield velocity of 75 mph.
Nicholas Newnam 1B St. Michael’s 2019
Projectable lanky frame at 6-foot-1, 155-pounds. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash with a 1.79 10-yard split.Hits from a slightly open setup. Short quick load to hitting position. Shorter swing path with average bat speed. Exit velocity of 75 mph. Clean hands and good feet at first. Quick exchange throwing from a sidearm angle. Infield velocity of 65 mph.
Paul Nixon 1B Archbishop Curley 2018
Strong physical frame at 6-foot-3, 230-pounds. Ran a 7.79 60-yard dash with a 1.95 10-yard split. Hits from an athletic setup. Smooth load back with leg kick and nice rhythm throughout. Slightly uphill bat path with explosive bat speed. Put on a power display during BP. Good extension through contact. Exit velocity of 98 mph. Solid actions in the infield. Athletic and stays on balls of feet well for size. Clean hands, good footwork, and quick turn to second. Infield velocity of 81 mph.
Ryan Nolan 1B Boonsboro 2019
Solid frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. Ran a 8.1 60-yard dash with a 1.93 10-yard split. Hits from a taller, open setup. Short quick load. Level swing path, slightly uphill. Hands work well and works middle of field well. Smooth rhythm throughout. Exit velocity of 85 mph. Clean footwork at first. Shorter arm action. Sound hands and exchange. Infield velocity of 72 mph.
Jimmy Pasquale 1B Holy Spirit 2019
Solid frame at 6-foot, 205-pounds. Ran a 8.15 60-yard dash with a 1.89 10-yard split. Hits from a balanced setup. Smooth load with nice rhythm. Shorter, direct swing with fast bat speed and some extension through contact. Shows power potential. Exit velocity of 82 mph. Sound footwork at first. Clean hands and quick exchange with a long, loose arm action. Infield velocity of 79 mph.
Joe Seidler 1B Chesapeake 2018
Lanky, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash with a 1.73 10-yard split. Hits from a balanced, square set up. Short load to hitting position. Shorter swing path with hands that stay inside of ball throughout. Middle type approach and shows some power potential. Does nice job getting barrale on ball during BP. Exit velocity of 86 mph. Plus defender at first base. Moves well around the bag with active feet and soft hand with clean exchange. Gets rid of ball well on turns with accurate throws from a low slot. Infield velocity of 81 mph.
Brett Swift 3B James M. Bennett 2019
Solid frame at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. Ran a 8.06 60-yard dash with a 1.94 10-yard split. Hits from an open setup with eight slightly back. Loads to square hitting position with big leg leg kick. Direct swing path to ball in and out of the zone. Spins slightly and could get some more extension. Strong kid and made some loud contact. Exit velocity of 92 mph. Active feet in the field, sound mechanics. Opens up slightly on throws from a low slot. Infield velocity of 78 mph.
