Bobby McNiff, RHP, Baintree HS, 2015

BACKGROUND

McNiff is a 2015 graduate of Braintree High School. He is a 6-foot-2,195-pound right-handed pitcher. Recently, the strong academic student decided to take his talents to Fairfield University over a handful of programs in the northeast. He was originally committed to University of Rhode Island but with the coaching change, he opened his search. Thus far, he has had a tremendous high school career with a combined record of 18-2.  

SCOUTING REPORT

At 6-foot-2, McNiff has a projectable body that should only get better as he matures. He pitches at 85-88 mph right now with plus action on his fastball and the abilty to locate on both sides of the plate. He shows a short slider that he stays behind and has the ability to use it as a strike out pitch and a sequence equalizer. His change up is his third pitch but he does show a feel for the rotation and use of it. His arm is clean on the backside and he gets above the ball out front leading to action and sink. He repeats a simple and athletic delivery. McNiff shows good mound presence and should make the jump to the next level with confidence.
