Massachusetts Scouting Director and Massachusetts Editor in Chief
Every week, PBR Massachusetts holds an interactive chat through Twitter with our followers. Our goal is to be accessible. This is your chance to take advantage of our expertise. Ask questions to Dennis Healy, Massachusetts Scouting Director, about the recruiting process, upcoming high school season, specific prospects, PBR events, or anything else that may be on your mind.
We would like to thank all who participated, we enjoy bringing you knowledge and expertise on players and programs in your area.
Next week, we will be answering questions on either Tuesday or Wednesday, stay tuned.
Six of the top questions from the Ask.FM Q&A session on January 23rd
Should players tweet their success/videos?
PBR: Seems like a bit much for me but that is only my opinion. Some coaches won't like that.
Im a pitcher, should I still do dumbbell bench or should i just not do any lifting?
PBR: I would do light dumbbell bench but be aware of the time you have prior and after throwing off the mound. Make sure to stretch and keep the weight reasonable.
What are you thoughts on kids who reclassify? I know a kid who is a 2016 and is going to reclassify to a '17?
PBR: I think it depends on their date of birth, it helps some guys get more looks and a better scholarship offers for sure. It also hurts guys that are older and already 20 years old as a freshman in college.
Will you be attending any high school games this spring? If so, which ones?
PBR: We will be attending as many games as possible and see everyone. We will be everywhere.
How knowledgeable are college coaches regarding the amateur baseball scene in their region?
PBR: It all depends on the coach and how hard they want to work. Guys who love it and are obsessed with it get after all recruits. Be sure who those guys are, cause those are the guys who know who can play and who can't.
Do you think coaches like players who play three sports? or two? Do coaches want you to focus on baseball only?
PBR: I think it is different for each coach, some would rather see you play and work on baseball. I like guys who are athletic and versatile so I like guys who play different sports.
