PBR MA Assistant Director of Scouting

Eric Simonelli, LHP, Boston College HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Wesleyan?

Simonelli: I chose Wesleyan because I felt that I was in a perfect setting where I could excel in both the classroom and on the diamond. The coaching staff made me feel comfortable during my visit. It is also close to Massachusetts so my family can see me play. Plus, my former high school teammate, AJ Ferrara, plays for them, and he was an influence on helping me make my decision.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Simonelli: I was receiving interest from Richmond, Davidson, Georgetown, and Fairleigh Dickinson.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals for your senior year?

Simonelli: My goals for senior year are to work hard in the weight room, get stronger and faster, increase my velocity, and pitch the best I can to help my team earn a Super 8 bid.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience?

Simonelli: I played for the Base in Roxbury and Nokona Baseball. My most memorable moment was going to the 17u WWBA Championships this summer and playing against some of the top teams in the country. It was my first time playing teams from out of the New England region.

PBR: What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?

Simonelli: My dad has the greatest impact on my career because he was the first person to introduce me to the game. He's dedicated a lot of his time to work with me and improve my game. He driven all over the place to watch me play, and is one of the reasons I am where I am today.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter you've faced in the state?

Simonelli: The toughest batter I faced in the state was Nick Latham from St.John's Prep. He was a tough out to get when we faced him this year.
