As the 2015 summer season is winding down, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will take a look a few 2016 and 2017 graduates that are flying under the radar right now, but should be seeing their stocks rise in the very near future.
*Reminder* On Monday September 7, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will be hosting a Prospect Identification Showcase at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Hammond, LA. This event will be open to all 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 prospects. Under The Radar Prospects
+ Taylor Young, INF/OF, West Monroe HS(2017)
A 5-foot-9, 160-pound infielder and outfielder with a small, athletic frame. Solid defender from both the outfield and infield that displays soft hands, fluid footwork, a quick and clean exchange, and accuracy and carry on throws. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load, no stride, explosive lower half, excellent balance, solid bat speed with a compact, short stroke, fluid rhythm and a line-drive approach.
+ Nick Fruge, INF, St. Thomas More HS(2017)
A 5-foot-9, 155-pound middle infielder with a small, athletic frame. Right-handed hitter with surprising bat speed that hits out of a balanced, athletic setup, short stride, shows fluidity and rhythm in his load, as well as keeping his hands inside the baseball nicely. Short, level path with gap to gap approach. Solid defender with soft hands, quick exchange, showing accuracy on throws across the diamond with carry.
+ Preston Faulkner, OF, Live Oak HS(2017)
A 6-foot, 194-pound outfielder and third baseman with a strong, physical, athletic frame. Right-handed hitter with a tall, balanced setup, smooth load, leg kick and solid balance throughout the swing. Line-drive type hitter with a gap to gap approach, fluid rhythm throughout that shows lightning quick bat speed. Defensively he displays soft hands, fluid footwork, a quick and clean exchange, playing through balls nicely and a long arm action into a high-3/4 release with accuracy, carry and velocity on throws.
+ Haden Erbe, RHP, Lafayette HS(2016)
A 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-hander with a lean, athletic frame. Quick arm out of a high-3/4 slot with an athletic, developing delivery with occasional pauses, and deficiencies. Fastball sits 86-89 mph with occasional life at end. Flashes a solid breaking ball with 10/4 shape, tight spin, and depth at 76-77 mph. Also shows advanced feel for change up with fastball arm speed and late life.
