As the 2015 summer season is winding down, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana will take a look a few 2016 and 2017 graduates that are flying under the radar right now, but should be seeing their stocks rise in the very near future.

This event will be open to all 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 prospects. Under The Radar Prospects

+ Hunter Romero, C/1B, St. Paul’s HS(2016)
A 6-foot-1, 210-pound catcher and first baseman with a large, developed frame with a strong lower half and muscular build. Right-handed hitter with a present college level hit and power tool. Shows a short, compact stroke with flat path through the zone, creating natural leverage in swing and shows advanced bat speed and strength at contact. Went on a tear this summer where he went 14-for-21 in the WWBA tournament in Atlanta. Primary position is catcher right now, and displays adequate abilities behind the plate with solid arm strength and a consistent 2.1 pop time to second base. Profiles more as a first baseman, where he displays solid athleticism and defensive ability at that spot.

+ Jeffery Elkins, OF, AES HS(2017)
A 5-foot-10, 165-pound outfielder with an average, lean, athletic body. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slight crouch setup with a slight load, leg kick, explosive lower half, and solid balance. Displays a compact, short path with a gap to gap approach and quality bat speed. Solid defensive outfielder with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, plays through well, and solid arm strength out of a mid-3/4 release with solid carry on throws.

+ Austin Kirkirkpatrick, C, Teurlings Catholic HS(2016)
A 6-foot-1, 155-pound catcher and outfielder with a lean, athletic frame. Outstanding defensive catcher that shows advanced ability to receive, block and throw at a high level with a pop time of 1.86. Shows easy athleticism behind the dish with loose hips, a high energy level, and the ability to control a pitching staff. Right-handed hitter with a balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, efficient lower half and solid balance. Displays quality bat speed with a level path, line-drive approach and fluid rhythm that stays gap to gap with occasional pull pop.

+ Kobe Cazes, RHP, Chalmette HS(2017)
A 6-foot, 155-pound right-handed pitcher with an average, athletic frame that has projection. Clean, long, loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with smooth rhythm throughout the delivery. Fastball sits 80-83 and has touched 85 mph with slight run that is consistently commanded well. Shows advanced feel to spin a breaking ball with 11/5 shape, depth and tight spin at 70-72 mph. Also flashes a change up with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 72-75 mph.
