According to the Coach

This group for the most part has very little varsity experience but has won the 19th District JV Tournament the past 3 years.  Corey Robinson has the most varsity experience on the mound.  Corey pitched several good varsity games for us last year and had a nice summer season with the Louisville Baseball Club.   He is not going to throw the ball past you but does an excellent job keeping hitters off balance and missing barrels.   He will be joined in the rotation by JT Smith, JT Mattingly, and Derek Goode.   All three are nice arms with good location and the ability to change speeds.  Our staff should be able to keep us in a lot of games.

Chance Bodine and Jake Yates will anchor our defense.  Chance has shared time behind the plate for the past two years.  He has been overshadowed by Blake Brangers who has now moved on to play at the next level but Chance will be one of the top catchers in the 5th region.  He does a great job handling our pitching staff and minimizing our opponents running game.  Jake Yates has been a 3 year starter in our middle infield.  He is very sure handed and covers a lot of ground.   Beyond those 2 we will have 7 open spots going into the spring with 12 guys battling for time.  I feel like we will be solid on the defensive side of the ball.

Offensively we will need to replace a lot of run production.  Chance Bodine and Jake Yates are our top returning hitters and have both been solid hitters on a varsity level.  We will be looking for Caleb Bird, a senior from Hardin Co, to step up and be a big run producer for us this year.  Caleb hits the ball hard and creates a lot of havoc on the bases.  In addition to Caleb we have a strong group of sophomores that we will be counting on for run production.  Jameson Hinkebein, Tommy Crawford, D.J. Mattingly, and Derek Goode will likely all be counted on to produce runs.
