Engelken comes from a school district that offers some of the best high school baseball in the region and the pitching talent routinely gets attention. Blue Valley schools have seen five pitchers drafted out of high school since 2008 and plenty of others have gone on to play in college. Engelken is part of a group that is next in line. PBR Kansas debuted this summer, but Engelken was already on the radar thanks to an appearance with Team Missouri in the 2012 Midwest Future Games. At an 18U event in August, Engelken sat 87-89 mph and touched 91, doing so with an easy delivery. He flashed a hard breaking ball at 76-78 that had late break and showed feel for a changeup that was 77-80.

He will team up with RHP/3B Ryan Ralston to make a formidable one-two punch for Blue Valley West this spring.
